Hi,

I am looking for some insurance for the up coming DN day at the 'Ring.

I'm taking the Megane R26.r so A Manning will not cover her?

Thanks

Dan

I use MORIS for my Ring trips.

Cost is about 10% of the value of the car as excess, and 1% of value as the premium.

£20k of cover = £200 premium & £2000 excess.

Excess & personal injury insurance can be added as extras.

On DN if you crash, do you still face all the charges of a normal Ring Public day, even though its a "trackday"?
Cheers

4) The driver of the car is liable for the full cost of any track damage they cause. We must have a €1500 deposit in advance of the event. We may do this by calling you in the week before the event, and taking a "Pre-Authorisation" on a credit or debit card. This means we do not actually take the money, but we have access to it in the event of a claim. The "Pre-Authorisation" expires after 7 days without charge. You must ensure you have a card with at least these funds available. Anyone not able to provide a deposit by credit or debit card may be asked to provide a €1500 cash deposit on arrival. We reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone unable to comply with this condition (see point 3 above).

Why not? Mannings are covering my Z4M at the DN day?

Existing customers are ok for the time being - but unless they find a new underwriter then you'll have a problem at renewal.

Unless they find a new underwriter, Mannings will be losing their entire Euro-trackday clientele by the end of the year. I do wonder how many people that is? I suspect that it is more than they themselves are actually aware of (given that they do not require you to tell them in advance, they likely have little idea how much use of the overseas coverage their customers use). I reckon that there are at least a quarter million quids worth of premiums per year up for grabs as a result of that change.

So you leave Mannings when your policy expires, and go where? Who else supplies a policy that covers what the present Mannings does? I'm not aware of any out there and therefore will probably still end up with Mannings as uk cover is still better than most others I know of. So the hit to there business is likely to be very small, unless another underwriter can be found by an alternative insurer, and if manning can't make it work with an a stablished market share, who will take the risk?

That depends upon how many UK track days that you do Jon. Most of mine are overseas with less than a half dozen a year in the UK for quite a few years now. There are several options in that sphere, and Mannings will be forced to compete on price where - frankly - they currently don't have to with the current offering due to its unique nature. We will have to see where this all leads by the end of the year when my renewal is up, but I don't see a future where I would track the current car uninsured and I don't see an increase of UK track activity instead of overseas on the cards either. Acquisition of something cheap for track use may have to be considered, even though if would feel like a crime to use the GT3 only on the road.

My GT3 is insured with Manning and just re-newed - didnt see any change to the track day cover or did I miss something? The TD cover has always been limited to days organised by organisers registered with approved organisations. Has there been a recent change to policies?

Since this month, apparently there is no longer any cover for overseas track days according to a number of people who have recently renewed. Please check and get back to us if this is not the case.
