RaceChrono is my friend's lap timer and lap time analysis tool for phones and tablets running on Android software (for example, Samsung smart phones) and is available for download through Google Play Store.
Base version is free with excellent ratings. Now a Pro verison has been added with video (supports both phone's own camera as well as external cameras like GoPro!), OBDII support etc.
Here is example of another friend driving BMW M235i with RaceChrono on the Ring:

And here short tutorial to video analysis:

As with other lap timers, just get an external 5Hz-10Hz GPS receiver near your window and you will soon be analyzing your driving with your phone whenever you have time, at the latest then when you are eagerly waiting for your next track event...
Would appreciate to hear your opinions about this, so I can talk more with the developer.
I do use an iPhone as my phone, but have another Samsung in my car as the 'lap timer phone'. Why I like RaceChrono it is very reliable and it is very easy to do lap time analysis with it. Just remember to use an external GPS receiver (qstarz, xgps, garmin glo etc.) as the phones' internal gps is not accurate enough.
Regards from Finland!

Its a great gadget.
My latest vid using it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnogK6sYy3E, combined with racerender (also free for short videos (just combine them in windows movie maker!)

I have been using the basic version of RaceChrono this year, at Rockingham it struggled to get a signal, however and the Ring and Spa I have great traces of my laps, overall very impressed.
I am at Bedford on the 23rd, so will give it another go there.
As mentioned above, if you can get hold of a external (Bluetooth/wifi) GPS receiver you will get much better precision.I am at Bedford on the 23rd, so will give it another go there.
The best "value for money" external GPS receiver is the QStarz BT-Q818XT which is 10hz (same as VBox etc) for around £50. Small, light (matchbox sized) very accurate with a 40Hr+ battery life and does 1, 5 or 10hz with 5hz having a setting (DGPS) to make it more accurate than 10hz but you need to set that up with a lap top first.
I've been using mine for about 3 years of rallying and it's never had an issue, even at 160mph+ at an airfield testing day (vmax style event).
