Just looking at booking Rockingham, never been before but it states 98 static all cars tested, that as to be drive by ?

What's your experiences of noise tests at Rockingham ?

If it states 98db static then that is what it will be, although I thought Rockingham was 102db static, guess it depends who you are booking with?

I went there last month. It was 98 static at 3/4 revs.

I think it varies between days so best to check.

Rockingham organised track days have a static test AT 45% MAXIMUM RPM, though the noise tester is not usually aware of this and says 75%, I usually correct him by showing him the booking email, but he never remembers from one track day to another!

I have confirmed this is correct with the organiser's who justify this very sensible approach to noise testing by placing more emphasis on the drive by noise limit of 90db at 20 meters rather than a static test.

I gave it a miss, I have in the past had to jump through hoops to get through static tests only to remove everything and have no drive by problems, for some reason @ 3/4 max rpm which most ask for the car makes noise from all over the place, once on track it tends to be one of the quieter ones at full chat.

eta @45% max rpm I would probably have sailed through, the same engine installed in a bike (from where it once resided) would be tested at 50% max rpm on a bike track day.
