Track Day Helmets

Hello all,

I am looking for an open face helmet for occasional track days. Has anybody seen a black helmet similar to the the Sparco item? I rented one at Brands Hatch recently which felt and looked great but I cannot remember what it was.

I have one of these, which I find really comfortable.

They are Snell approved, and are available mail order with a money back guarantee if they don't fit/aren't comfortable. Nice company to deal with. I found the size guide accurate, though would say that if you, like me, are right on the cusp between two sizes, go for the larger of the two.

Many thanks for the reply. This is a very specific request, looking for a black open face helmet. Not general suggestions like previous threads.

The V2 is certainly the style I am after. It is more expensive than the Sparco but no doubt worth it. Thanks.

I understand that it's a specific request, but there's plenty of relevant advice in that thread and it saves us typing it all out over and over - most notably the point about trying plenty on.

Helmets are a very personal thing and people's head shapes vary enormously, so don't buy unseen, try a few and see what suits you best

Personally I would add that if colour is a pivotal criteria you can always have it professionally painted (it isn't a DIY job - take it to a helmet painting pro if you do this). But frankly : you aren't going to be aware of what colour it is when it is on your head and you are massively limiting your options if you explicitly avoid white... Having it fit properly and comfortably is infinitely more important.
