CRASH!! Nurburgring. E46 M3. Finally posted my video

I finally got round to posting the onboard footage of my CRASH in my E46 BMW M3 in June 2014.
It was my 1st Lap of the year, I started off taking it easy as it was the first lap of the year and I'd just fitted brand new Pilot Sport Cup tyres with zero miles on and needed to bed them in.
Half way round, I realised the track was the emptiest I'd ever seen it and started to increase the pace thinking I'd have the best chance ever of improving my lap time. Unfortunately, I never made it to the end but, I was right - it would have been my fastest ever lap!!
Luckily, no-one was hurt, just my wallet!! 1200euros of track repair (though no damage was done), 468euros of towing and storage costs, £500 repatriation cost and still need to repair the car (which I am just about to start, ready for 2015.
Be careful out there boys and girls!!!

Don't think you can call that 'no damage to track'. I know they can be a bit random deciding what repairs are necessary to the Armco but you've given it a decent whack. Even if it doesn't look all mangled up they'll often want to set new posts so its not wobbling about.
Hello TurboBungle, we met at the Ring a few years back - when you guys were in old school skylines..
That's a bad bit of luck mate and pleased you both walked away. I've done sub 8mins in my E46 CSL a few years back (might well have had the car when we went on the trip together - I can't honestly remember!) so I know how close to the limit you were traveling but even so I am surprised you lost the rear end so aggressively - any idea what caused it - perhaps a lack of grip as you come out of the banked section onto the flat. It's certainly a bumpy ride around that one!
Good luck putting it back together and PM me when you're ready to go back out as we have a trip planned for 2015.

Looks like just a case of the front pressing in a little before the rear after having gone light when popping out early over the ridge. Results in a pretty severe left yaw-left that's always going to be tricky to judge the right amount of instantaneous op lock to counter.
I think that's a pretty common mode of failure at that corner judging from the steady stream of cars hitting that exact same patch of Armco.

Were you the one I got pictures of drifting around Brunchenn? I'll be discussing our 2015 trip tonight with the lads, we might go on this Euro Rally thing that takes in Monaco, Stelvio pass, San Bernadino pass, Milan and the 'Ring (and a few other places) over a week. Sounds pretty good and very reasonable on cost. Just need to pull my finger out and get the car fixed! That's a bad bit of luck mate and pleased you both walked away. Damn, you looked close to catching that but maybe the right rear just nipped on the grass on the outside. Plenty of lock on really quick after that initial yaw but it still turned around 
To be honest the wallet pain wasn't too bad given you really gave the armco a good slap.
Plenty have been off there before you and no doubt plenty since so don't feel too bad.

What's the car repair bill looking like?
Yes I wish I'd asked for the old barrier parts so I could have had them in the garden or garage, maybe. Car repair bill is just about to start so not sure yet. First parts arrived last week so need to get it in the workshop now!! s

I don't imagine they would be very forthcoming with 'your' Armco.
Best you could hope for is to sneak out with a rattle can and sign your new bit.
I've always thought they should install custom Armco that has the 'ring logo stamped in it. That way impacts would emboss the car with a series of little Nordschleife outlines.
More expensive than buying a sticker but at least you get something
