Having done plenty of TDs in the UK I'm looking to go on a trackday at the ring for the first time this year and want to rent a car rather than using my own. Looking on the rent4ring site their prices are on a per-lap basis (I'm assuming this is for tourist days).

Anyone had experience of hiring for a full day? If not, how many laps is realistic for a full trackday? I sent them an email on friday but had no reply, will call them tonight assuming they are available outside office hours...

TIA smile

I am not 100% up on their pricing, but i often instruct for them on the Ring and renting for a trackday is not unusual. Not difficult to do 3/400 kilometers in a day around the track if not hindered by closures. I also instruct for RSR and the rental companies are just starting to gear up following the winter off season. Most staff are away upto febuary and are generally returning to base about now, so be patient if you do not get a reply pronto.
I understand that R4R are going to be fgocusing on the swifts and smaller cars this year, whereas RSR are offering all and varied from the Twingo RS thru to 991's.
Hope this helps

Cheers for the info doogalman - I've booked a Clio 200 from RSR. They seem very helpful and friendly so looking forward to it! Looking forward to my first trip to the 'ring smiledriving

OK cool. The clios's are good fun. I see you have a M135, RSR have them also.
Depending on what dates you are driving i may well be on duty instructing for RSR. Ask if Roy is in and say hello.

Ok I will do smile

I'm going with circuitdays on the 27th April. I use the M135i in the uk on trackdays but having never been to the ring, plus sharing with an in-experienced mate I figured a clio would be a slightly better proposition this time.

Ah, 27th April. I am instructing for Circuit Days that day so will be kicking about at the Main carpark area at the track entrance.

Cool - will almost certainly see you then, we're not booked onto any tuition yet but may take some on the day if there's any slots :-)

There is always slots spare, ping Chris at circuit days an e-mail and see, but if you do book it for as early in the day as you can, beats getting halfway thru the day and then finding things out about where not to lift and lines and turn-in points that could have made the day better for you. The Ring is a unique animal in the circuit world and knowing some of the ways to familiarise yourself with it quicker will help you have a safe day. Look forward to catching up if possible.

I would echo the sentiment to get instruction, I have been to the 'Ring a number of times and there is still soooo much to learn.
