Snetterton this Friday

I'm going, first full track day for me. I've been Nurburg a few times, did Bedford a year or so ago and got Black Flagged for noise (got some silencer rear tips now) and a few laps of Silverstone but thats it.
I'll be in a White GT-R replicating the famous kebab man
On serious note just plan to get to know the circuit and build lap by lap I know track day etiquette and really looking forward to it but I'm in no doubts they'll be a lot less equipped cars with more competent track day drivers passing me but that doesn't phase me at all.
Feel free to come and say hello and give me any circuit tips if you see me out on track and think I'd benefit from taking better lines etc.

Was a good day, made the most of it car is being collected to have a look at as had few niggles. Also got black flagged so had to put in some silencers which seemed to restrict / hinder performance but really enjoyed it.
As expected I wasn't the quickest but had fun, started off at 2.50 laps, then 2.40's then 2.30's and down into 2.20's late on.
30 second improvement from start of day to end was pretty happy with. I've no idea what a good time is but judging by some of the single seater races flying past me I'm still a long way off the pace.
Been interesting looking at the video's can see where I make lots of mistakes, late braking, early braking, turning in at wrong points etc. Learning curve I guess.
Video looks best in 720p but has been scaled down. This is a 2.30 second lap lots of obvious mistakes on hindsight to learn from which I will.
In the early afternoon I actually managed 3 laps within 0.5 seconds of each other in a row but ironically each lap had a faster section, just needed to piece them together.

I thoroughly enjoyed it too, especially as I had a ride in Dan's Cayman GT, and my good friend Peter abandoned hs plans for the day, egged on by his lovely wife, and turned up at 8.00 to drive his TVR in convoy with mine on the track.
I also drove Peter's car for a few laps - awesome, the torque of the town. A set of Gaz Monos and an electric PS pump are on my birthday/Christmas pressie list.....
Apart from the noise test, we had no issues all day, but then, TVR has always equalled Total Vehicular Relability.

They looked good going around! usually past me on a warm down lap who had the one with the registration ending I think PF? that was out on track when I was and went and looked great.
The GT was gorgeous, very jealous of that on the way home he gave it a blip past me as I was heading home slowly with the wife in the 308 behind and gave a wave and flash.
Thoroughly enjoyed!

Hehe, cool. Was a bit worried when I noticed you had the window down. Good job it was not a tunnel. :-) The GT was gorgeous, very jealous of that on the way home he gave it a blip past me as I was heading home slowly with the wife in the 308 behind and gave a wave and flash.

Anthony and Peter, great to meet you both! The ride out in the TVR was the high point of the day.
My pleasure! I always appreciate people who enjoy themselves during a ride
We were talking about TVRs and how they can be more than a hobby.

Nice to meet and speak to some of you guys. I was the Noble along with the black GTR, black BMW M4 and red 911 jalopy. It was my first trackday ever so learning curve was almost vertical!
The Cayman was truly stunning, TVRs sounded amazing and GTRs were flying. That white MG was the star of the day for me, astonishing pace.
Excellent day overall including my full 360 spin

I knew I should've checked in here before going! Totally forgot about it.

I made a comment in the morning about "Award for the most rubbish car" in the morning and it decided to prove me right.

Always nice to have someone waiting for you with a fire extinguisher.
Looked more spectacular than it was. The staff at Snetterton were all really helpful. We had it all patched up by about 8pm and on the way home, although it was a long long day
I'd use a trailer, but my tow vehicle is even more likely to die on me

In which case, I think I have to thank you for letting me nab the garage when you packed up. I made full use of it after I caused a bit of red flag

Nice to see you all there - i was parked amongst you before the start, felling like the poor relation - but glad you enjoyed the TVR sound. There were some serious cars in the car park too....including that 4-door Aston and a new Bentley ContinentalThe Cayman was truly stunning, TVRs sounded amazing and GTRs were flying. I agree about the white MG - apparently he had well over 400 bhp from his Rover V8 engine and knew how to use it. I managed to make the day of the driver of one of the standard RV8 MGBs (180 bhp tops) by telling him that he took me a while to catch
I did love following the E type late in the day. The sight of that majestic car with the front left wheel nearly six inches off the ground on a tight left hander was something else. The driver clearly knew how to, despite the antiquity of both car and tyres.
Sorry to say your friend in the M4 did spoil one session for me, but perhaps i should have just backed off instead of assuming that he would eventually see me and move over.
He came out of the pits, completely forgot the instructions in the briefing and cut straight across onto the racing line for the first corner apparently without looking, which must have given the racing Mini in front of me a bit of a brown trouser moment, as it certainly gave me a few issues at 120 mph. He then proceeded to drive slowly round all the corners (on road tyres I guess) with me right up his chuff for several laps, ignoring the blue flags and lights. Then he used his zillion bhp down the straight to pull a 50 yard gap, only to find me right up his chuff again after the next corner. I'm sure he's a nice chap, so if he reads this perhaps he would kindly be a little more thoughtful next time out and use his mirrors....even more. If he had let me past at any stage I very much doubt I would have been near enough in front after the next few corners to hold him up.

It's a great track overall and I found myself in 4th for most corners, only dropping to 3rd for Montreal, Agostini, Nelson and Murrays. Even my novice abilities saw me hitting 75 through the Bomb hole and then Coram which I think could be improved hugely with some decent tyres (at the right pressures when hot!!) and geo.

No problem
sorry you had issues and had to make use of it! hope its nothing to bad friend in his R33 cracked the head on his block.I had rear suspension issue and when the original infrequent noise become constant I knew it was time for my own safety and others on the track to call it a day for the sake of the last hour.
As it was on the way home this little guy decided to make a mess

Cars being collected Thursday for a health check over to diagnose my issue.
