Is anyone else booked onto the Blyton Park session on Sunday 15th March?

Would be great to meet other PHers and say hello.

Just back from a Blyton Park, it was my first ever track day so I brought a mate along for moral support.

We spent a good amount of time on track in cold but dry conditions so once the tyres were up to temperature, the grip was great. My best time was just above 1:20 which is 6 seconds off the best time I've seen in a VX N/A set by Zoobeef = lots of work to do. Still, it was quick enough to make my mate throw up in the paddock after an emergency dash back when he gave me the signal!

I saw a couple of PH stickers there, including on a lovely 4.7ltr Cerbera with silencers attached. Awesome car.

Anyway, some self indulgent pics:

I love Blyton, I'd like to know more times. I did 1:21 in my girlfriend's Clio 182. I'll definitely be going back soon. Bet the vx220 was fun at port froid.

Yeah, it was awesome at port froid! Pretty much flat out once I'd got past the first corner, I just wish I'd stiffened the suspension as I left it 14/15 clicks from hard on my Quantum's which I use as my road setting... as it was my first track day, I wanted to learn the car without messing with sus setup but in hindsight I should have gone harder so I could get more grip through port food. It's an awesome track, was not expecting it to be so technical and demanding.

what brake set up are you running? and how did it cope?

I toasted standard pads on my clio in 5 laps once, now I run Carbone Lorraine RC5+s and ducting. Blyton's so tough on them!

Yeah, this was an issue for me too, it's really tough on them. I'm on Mintex 1114 with AP 4 pot calipers on front and standard on the rear. The Mintex wreck okay but fade when hot and my brake fluid is old and crap. I've got dot 4 fluid but didn't get that in. Also planning on getting the same pads as you or Pagid's as they don't fade anywhere near as much.

One vote here for Pagid RS29s, even in my much heavier 328 they last more than 5 track days & will do 20 laps at a time at Cedwell or Blyton without any sign of fade.

We were on the outer circuit, I was consistently getting 1:22 and managed a few just above 1:20

They are expensive but WELL worth it, less time under the car, more time on track.

These lasted me 1 day or less
EBC yellow/red/blue less than full day £115 average
DS2500 full day £115
Mintex 1144 full day + £120
DS UNO full year of track days £220
Pagid RS29 full year of track days £230

Nice, is that with the chicane on the back straight? I'll check some of my videos to get a comparison (all my timed runs were standing start).

Yeah, it's a really good shape, I'll never understand why Evo do their track tests without it. If you've done the Eastern circuit, that part of the circuit gets even more tricky!

Unfortunately I don't have any dry laps to compare, just looked through my footage and all the morning runs were wet, it only dried up for the standing start timed runs in the afternoon. But if I take this run, time it from the end of that big yellow kerb to the timing beams, then fill in the gap with a morning run, I get around 1'23. Quite pleased with that!

So that's why Evo's lap times seem stupidly fast to me! I thought I was just rubbish..

Potatoes, that was me in the Cerbera, your VX220 looked great as well, I remember seeing the back of it for a few laps!

It was a great day for it, much warmer than it has been. It's a lot of fun to hustle around such a twisty track, really enjoyed it.

I loved the Cerbera, I remember you warming up, letting me past, then about 2 laps later you'd caught back up to me... with ease!

The track was awesome, I didn't expect to enjoy the layout as much as I did but. Shame I didn't pop over to say hello... next time.

Were you at Donnington (another Javelin day) in November by any chance?

Yes I remember now, I always like to get some heat into the engine and tyres before going for it and try to not hold anyone up in the process.

She does feel rather potent on a track of that size, perfectly geared for it too.

No that wasn't me at Donnington, I've not been there (yet!). Even with the silencers 101dB is touch and go so you'll normally only see me at the noisy tracks wink

Seriously potent, you and the white mk1 Golf were so much quicker than anything else out there when giving it some smile

Next time you see me on a track day pop over, would be great to get a lap or two in the VX220 and vice versa. smile
