Go Pro on an open top sports - which back?
Discussion
Got a new Go Pro and on a track day on Tuesday. Having no experience with on board cameras, I'm wondering whether I should leave the full waterproof back on or put the skeleton back on in order to get the sound? Will the sound be totally muffled if I leave the full back on? Will I get a load of rubbish wind noise if I go with the skeleton back? The camera will be mounted underneath a roll cage, but it's an open top sports race car. Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.
I just use the back that came with the GoPro, I put one camera on the rear bumper to get the rear view and use that sound for the exhaust, works a treat. Here is a video at Silverstone recently:

1/2 way through the battery dies on the rear camera so the sound goes on-board so you can hear the difference. It's never muffled or has any wind noise. IIRC GoPro suggest the regular housing for external mounting at higher speeds.

You're best off investing in the Skelton case or butchering a normal case (drill a hole for a mic).
I've used a Hama LM-09 and it works great. Just make sure you zip tie the foam cover in place
