European Track Days and Replacement Tires
Discussion
I'm looking to book a couple of European trackdays next year (Spa and one other with Gold Track or Javelin) where I'll be driving over in my car. What do folks do about replacement tires if you go through them on the day? I don't have room in the car to bring spares, but I don't want to get stuck out there with unsafe tires.
Maybe if I just go out there with a new set there'll be very little chance of getting through them over a two day session?

CircuitDays and DN Events almost always have their tyre guy there with them, forget his name. As long as you have a common size tyre, you will be able to get replacements. But you need to bear in mind that stock is limited to what he can get to the event in his van, although you can you pre-order.
After a tyre failure we spent an entire morning driving round tyre shops in Leige, trying to find a pair of tyres in an obscure 16" size, while the trackday was getting away from us. My fault for going to Spa with less than perfect tyres. I was penniless at the time so at least I made an effort. We got back after lunch with replacements and still made it work!
Don't bother with the video unless you are interested in seeing how a complete novice negotiates Spa, first time driving the car (bar fifty miles) and first track day.
Oh and one other thing, Javelin decided at the very last minute to allow overtakes on either side, not how I'd briefed my co-driver and totally unnecessary at Spa

A few years ago I was at Donington with CD, we had a great time once the fog/mist lifted. But as we left the circuit in total darkness I heard a ticking sound, oh no - we'd picked up a nail through a tyre. We raced back to find Tyre Guy about to drive off. I explained our predicament and asked if we could get a puncture repair. He was great - we helped unload (and reload) all his stock so he could get to his tyre mount and balance gear and he sorted us out - we left deeply indebted on a very dark Sunday evening 140 miles from home.
