Visiting with a groups of 12.

Looking for somewhere close to a few decent pubs and restraunts.

What's your preference?

I haven't been for quite a few years now but always stay in Adenau, it has a nice feel to it and is a good base to get around from. Blau Ecke is the easy choice I think if you're down there, the beer is good and rooms weren't too bad either in 2008/9.

It's always Adenau for me. Stay in the Blaue Ecke, beers in the Brauhaus and then pizzas bigger than your head in Pinocchio's. Lovely!

We stay here: http://www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de/

I'd say it's about a 10 min walk into Adenau for Pizza.

Can't compare it to anywhere else as we're creatures of habit so it's good enough and relatively cheap.

Huge shame that Eddy's closed the restaurant, they used to do great soups and steaks on the stone there. Only used for breakfast now sadly.

Also a shout for this place, 8 of us stayed in one of their apartments a few years back. Garages available, 2 minute walk to a great spectator spot and also literally right next to the half-way-round track entrance point if you fancy. Great place.

And another one from me. Grab a couple of beers (from bar/cafe by the track entrance) up the steps to overlook the circuit as the sun goes down, then wander into Adenau for giant pizza/schnitzel at Pinocchios - ideal.

its about a 10 minute drive. but its cheap. 300 euros for a house that sleeps 6 for 4 nights.

This gets my vote. Stayed there twice now and would of been a 3rd time this year but they are already booked up for our usual week.
It's gotta be the best location with easy viewing lots of local eating places and you can wake up with a brew to the sound of an 8 o'clock opening.
