I recently picked up a Lamborghini Huracan and as a very first step booked couple of track days. It then hit me that I shouldn't have specced the factory sports exhaust. A cheap Amazon sound meter shows it at 104 at 3/4 revs, and that's if I'm lucky, and then when you let go of the accelerator it backfires and hits 118.

Has anyone seen any of the new-gen lambos on a track without getting kicked off? Is my sound meter just wrong or should I give up on the chance of taking it on a track?

Did you keep the recipt for the Huracan? If so, take it back, get a refund and buy an MX5 (with no optional sports exhaust) and you can go on any track you want thumbup

I have a Gen 1 Superleggera with standard exhaust - I just scrap through 105db/92db trackdays. It wont pass at Bedford 101db/87.5db. So yours with a sport exhaust is more likely to fail at most tracks. Best bet is to try go to testing days when they dont have noise limits.

Might not be an issue for OP but IIRC you have to show a race licence to do a test day.

An question i don't know the answer to: Can you take a road car on a test day? I have a feeling the ones i have done, stipulate the car to be of 'MSA Scruteneerable (yep thats a word) standard' so not sure how you would get on with out cage, external cutoffs, etc??

Once did a 'loud' day at donington with bookatrack. That was certainly LOUD, and there were a lot of full fat race cars there, including GT's. Pretty sure you'd not have a problem in that sort of company.

Saw a Huracan at Brands last September, uncertain on Sports exhaust or not. Are you holding the decibel meter 1 metre away at a 45deg angle or straight behind as this makes a difference.

Best bet is to pop along to a local circuit and ask them to test your car, only way to confirm.

Buy some exhaust wadding and stick it up the tail pipes at scrutineering. :-)

I ran our Huracan flat out all day at Donington and had no noise issues at all. That was using all the rev range. Even when 2 up I saw 146mph on the approach to Redgate. eek

That didn't have the silly exhaust though. The 991 GT3 could run there without the sports exhaust button pressed.

I've seen very loud cars at track days with silencer cans on, is this an option?

Just chance it and see how you get on, worst that will happen on the first occasion is you'll get asked to go home or quieten it down so buy a silencer that sticks in the exhaust pipe. They look stupid but not as stupid as you'll feel paying for a track day and being sent home.

18" length, I suspect that is a weld in silencer.

Unfortunately the silencers are a no go. The four way exhaust configuration makes it impossible without a bunch of welding, and then the back pressure buildup isn't going to be great for the engine. And it'll be a few thousand to put it all together too. Rookie move getting the sports exhaust, kicking myself now, never for a second imagined the car would be this loud. My main car is an rs6 and the miltek exhaust upgrade took it up to 89db, no joke.

Fair enough, looks like Donington loud day it is then. It'll be touch and go on a 105db day, given what my dodgy Amazon noise meter says. Going to have to go and get it tested properly at the track..

I've taken my Huracan on track a couple of times on the TG track and bruntingthorpe and while I can't comment on noise ( mine has a race exhaust) the Huracan is awesome on track, make sure you try it, it's a roller coAster ride.

You are going to have to be of your face to take a Lamborghini Huracon on a test day!!!!! Or the Sultan Of Brunei!!!!
Basically no rules, it's not a Trackday, it will end up in tears I am sure.
