Road legal track cars at multiple price points.
Discussion
Apologies if this thread has been done before, but as a fun exercise and partially because I struggle with ideas when looking for inspirations for cars to look at, I'd like to know:
What people would choose given £x to buy a track car.
Let's say you're in the typical scenario of needing/wanting a second car that can be used for track days, weekend fun and even in the event of the wife stealing the family car.
Let's say the price points are £5k, £10k, £20k, £30k, £50k and £100k.
If it was me:
£5k: Tuned MX5
£10k: E46 M3
£20k: S2 Elise
£30k: Exige S
£50k: Cayman R or 996 GT3 at a squeeze?
£100k: 997.2 GT3

Like most car lists, this probably changes from day to day. But this is how I feel right now.
£5k: Mazda RX8 (allowing for an engine rebuild!)
£10k: Vauxhall VX220 n/a - with money left over for tweakage.
£20k - £30k: Mazda FD RX7. Enough to buy a really tidy example and resto-mod it to my personal specification. Love the way these cars look and handle and given this much money, would be difficult to look away from this! Or a TVR Cerbera 4.5.
£50k: This is probably enough money for me to resto-mod an E30 to a very high standard 'clubsport' spec, powered by an S65 V8 - or failing that on expense grounds, an LS2. So that's probably what I'd do.
£100k: Enough money to get me into a decent used 997 GT3 RS? If so, that's what I'd be thinking about.
