Thinking about doing this as have the week off. Went to Donington for my second time on Mon with Javelin but looking at the BaT website it mostly seems to be seriously quick Caterham 620s on the day. I am in a lowly normally aspirated mk3 MX5 and am still learning my way around the circuit. I've no experience with BaT but have heard positive things - should I be worried about being a bit "Capt Slow" or will I be tolerated? I don't usually get in the way of folks.

Some instruction around Donington would be good too!

Cheers
Steve

There are only 2 620's booked on that day confused

You'll be fine with an MX5, and instruction is available to book.

Fair enough, just looked again and scrolling down most seem to be R300s :-) Well, I might splash out and give it a go - determined to get the hang of the Craner curves...

Get in there!

Obviously someone has to be the slowest car on the track. If it is you, it doesn't matter. You might be surprised by how quickly you can pick up your pace as you learn the circuit, especially with some instruction. You should never need to be intimidated by quicker cars if everyone is playing by the rules

I have been the slowest car on the circuit before and it never put me off

It's still not fully booked (yet) so it might be quiet. I'm sure there will be the usual mix of fast and slow cars (and drivers)

I was there a few weeks ago on a day before a historic/classic racing weekend and some of those drivers were the least considerate I've seen in a good long while

You know you want to!

BaT are good, I did a day with them in my mk3 MR2, which will be about the same laptime as a mk3 MX-5. I didn't have any trouble with holding people up etc, they seem to run fewer cars than other organisers.

I looked at doing one of their days a few weeks back and there were loads of Caterhams on the list, both their hire cars and "Caterham Circuit Experience" cars.

BaT are very good guys and you will feel at home.

They don't tolerate eejits being aggressive.

Enjoy Donnington. From what I hear it's a good track.

Was a great day, met some good people and the instruction certainly helped. And no, definitely wasn't the slowest on track! A few Caterhams misbehaved e.g overtaking without consent at the apex of Schwantz, but most were pretty courteous. Redgate appears to be my sticking point - just can't resist turning in a bit too early. I will certainly be back there!
