I've fully been bitten by the track bug now, following a successful day at Combe and Rockingham upcoming I've decided to try and do as many different tracks this year as possible. So I've since booked:
- lydden hill - June
- Oulton - July
- Bedford - August

I'm curious to know what the PH community see as the 'best uk track' in your own eyes?

Cadwell
Brands
Dony or Snett. Snett better layout but Dony has elevation change, always good.

I'm quite a fan of Bedford too!! i know people slag it off, but everyone of those corners has a lot of thought behind it and i suspect JP took a personal interest to get it right.

Oulton.
Bedford (because it's "safer" so the brain allows for pushing harder)
Combe

I dislike Rockingham. Always seem to be full of racers testing and ignoring rules, and the track layout doesn't "flow" for me.

Oulton.

Although I quite like the Snetterton 300 layout

I`ve never done Brands GP but if it is as good as everyone says, I suspect that could move to the top of the list if I ever drove it.

My personal ranking of the UK tracks I've done (I think Brands Hatch would be in most peoples top 5...):

1. Cadwell Park
2. Oulton Park
3. Anglesey
4. Donington Park
5. Snetterton
6. Knockhill
7. Croft
8. Hethel
9. Castle Combe
10. East Fortune

In addition consider particular track layouts, e.g. Oulton (Island) and Anglesey (Coastal) are best IMO.

Silverstone is the number one for me, if you want to go fast it's got the long straights the fast corners and plenty of room. Bedford is nice too but noise restrictions make it very difficult to take a viper. Brands is my local and the GP circuit is well worth it, the Indy is just too short for my liking.

Of the 6 i've visited - this is my preference

1= Thruxton (fast and flowing)
1= Silverstone GP (Prestige and great sequences)
1= Brands Indy (Small but perfectly formed, fun in wet)
4= Rockinhgam (Too flat but still fun, banking isnt as steep as I hoped)
4= Blyton (Too Flat but a few good sequences)
6 Bedford GT(long and boring, straight, bend, straight, bend repeat.)

Oh well, why not..

1) Donington. Awesome.. old hairpin great fun in the wet.
2) Bedford - car (GT, or west) fast, some great corners, so it's flat, but never mind. SEN didn't float my boat.
3) Snetterton 300 (bike), some VERY fast bits (160+) some great corners, would love to do it in a car
4) Bedford (bike) Ok, but nothing special
5) Brands indy (bike) It's ok.. paddock hill is a rush, but too fiddly, and can never really make it flow.. and it's too damn short / overtaking is a pig.

Done a few, so with an arbitrary score so you can get an idea how close things were:

Donington Park 9/10
Cadwell Park 9/10
Oulton Park 8/10
Croft 8/10
Snetterton 7/10
Rockingham 7/10
Bedford Autodrome 7/10
Castle Combe 5/10
Mallory Park 3/10

yet to do anglesey, brands in any form or silverstone in any form.

what car is a big factor too, especially at circuits where the elevation rises over bends. The mismatch of larger powerful or lighter agile cars can be a little frustrating. It was some experiences at Dony and Oulton that pushed me to SC my mx5. That and usual need to meddle with a perfectly good car!

I don't think I have ever not enjoyed a track day and all offer something different.

I will go with Cadwell Park but Anglesey is probably a very close 2nd

The ones I've been to top 5 are

1 anglesey
2 snetterton
3 croft
4 pembrey
5 Rockingham

Overall though for facilities track etc snetterton is my favourite but anglesey beats it on the technical nature of the track and stunning scenery. Pain to get too though and I live in Wales.
