New track days at Brands

MotorSport Vision, owner of Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton, has launched a series of 'Club' track days, with the emphasis on everyday cars.

Company boss and ex-racer Jonathan Palmer said: "There are already plenty of track day operators who cater admirably for the sector of the public who have expensive, highly-modified 'track-day' vehicles. We are not targeting those cars, but their sporty cousins instead. By inviting anyone who has a Golf GTi or a Renault Clio Sport to try out their car on track, we are hoping to get more people involved in Motorsport and cater for drivers who have cars of any shape or size."

Specially designed to develop the individual's race-craft with guidance from experienced instructors, Club Brands Hatch allows owners to test the performance of their vehicles in a safe and controlled environment.

Before setting out on the track, drivers are given a thorough briefing on vehicle preparation, track etiquette and racing lines, while brake boards and cones around the circuit will help beginners to master the track effectively.

Experienced instructors are on hand throughout the day to offer one-to-one advice and give in-car tuition as drivers tackle some of the most famous corners in the world like Brands' Paddock Hill Bend, Snetterton's Russell Chicane and the Mountain at Cadwell Park.

Brands Hatch instructor Neil Mills said: "Every day, hundreds of thousands of people get into their sporty hot hatches and saloons – only to sit in crawling traffic jams and gridlocked cities. We're given owners the opportunity to get out of third gear and see what they, and their cars, can really do.

"The 'Club' experience is not just about going as fast as humanly possible, as we regularly help people improve their driving position and operation of controls, and teach them all sorts of things they didn't know about the dynamics of their vehicle."

Looks interesting...for those worried about dipping their toe in an increasingly track-day special infested pool, should provide for a lot of cars with similar performance, which should make for more relaxed novices.

Of course, a large number of novices on-track at the same time... ;)

Let's hope they've learnt since the ridiculously over-subscribed and ill-disciplined one they ran in June - I wouldn't have recommended that to a novice.

I did a trackday at Brands last week and i have to say i had a really good time. It was my first time out on track and with the day split into 3 groups (novice for me!) it definetly wasn't such a daunting experience.
