I'm going to Spa soon and plan on towing my car.
I'm a bit confused about the event instructions for accessing the circuit with the trailer.
Can someone tell me if I have to use the Blanchimon entrance with a trailer or canI get in at La Source?
Can I get my trailer and tow car close to the pit garages?

The instructions say that you can't bring your own fuel unless containers carry the 3ADR label and are clearly marked UN1203.
Does this just mean I have to sick the red diamond sign with 1203 on it onto my jerry cans?

I don’t know about entrances, but I do know the paddock is very tight. For a meeting in a few weeks time we’ve been told all trailers need to be stored elsewhere.

Is your trailer registered? Since late ‘25 all trailers over 750kg need to be registered. As long as you have a VIN you can do it with the DVLA, I found Utopia plates can print as per the spec.

I’ve heard of trailers being impounded

Haven't had to do this yet, but do the DVLA allocate a VRM to the trailer which you then have to display as a different plate to the tow vehicle? Or is it just a V5 type document with the trailers VIN?

The blanchimont entrance you can get anything in from small trailers right upto modern hgv trailer setups. Whereas the Ster entrance is more for cars. I have seen trailers use it but I have also seen setups stuck in there as I worked at spa for 12 years. Realistically though the guy in the security box will just send you to Blanchimont anyway. Just go Blanchimont and take the risk out of it.
The gp paddock can be tight but depends on the trackday you are on and if you have a garage booked. If you have a garage you can park directly behind your garage with trailer. The garages are big so if you were not in a group of many you could put the trailer in the garage.. alternatively you can park at the rear of the gp paddock or leave the trailer and tow vehicle in the lower area if you want.

You get a separate registration number from the DVLA which has to be displayed on the trailer not too close to the towing vehicles registration plate.

So you go to the DVLA site for trailer registration, enter your VIN and weights, pay c. £20 and they send you a registration. I then found it very hard to find someone who prints the correct format (similar to a motorbike but in white) and after a while found Utopia plates.

You are then advised to carry the trailer's registration certificate when traveling across to the EU (as you are with a car's V5, MOT etc).

Mine looks like this (excuse the crap shot):

The Ster entrance (main way in that goes under Eau Rouge) will take a van + trailer with tyre rack etc no problem so unless you have something seriously huge that should be fine.

I understood that the regs for registering a trailer did not apply to a UK one as long as it wasn’t commercial etc but it is cheap and fast to do so no reason not to really.

I am heading over for Spa and Ring GP working for Circuit Days next weekend, can’t wait!

It was originally. Not now, even needed for caravans.
