Car Trailer registration for Europe, advice needed.

I will be towing my car through France and Italy and understand i have to register my trailer, i also understand that they require the trailer chassis number and VIN to do this. My trailer is an older one that does not have a VIN number, anyone had this problem and how did you get it registered? Any help appreciated.

You'll need to get a VIN number first, then register it.

You either need to locate the original chassis stamp, find the manufacturer's plate (typically on the drawbar or near the hitch), or contact the DVLA (if the trailer is under 3,500kg gross weight) or the DVSA (if it is over 3,500kg) to have an official identity allocated.
