Data Logging Device-Performance box

Does anyone on here use one of these ?

If so would be interested in some feedback
We've got the driftbox model at work.
I was offered the use of it for a recent trackday but thought the laptiming feature would probably make using it dodgy (even if you don't time, it's hard to tell what it's doing from the outside) so decided against it.
Not sure I could learn anything from it as a novice trackday driver anyway, might have been vaguely interesting though.

Just seen one in action and have bitten the bullet and bought one
All I need to do now is find a way of fitting it to my Caterham with an aeroscreen
The organisers are onto these now. They were specifically mentioned at two briefings I went to later on this year. They claim timing causes issues with insurance so I'm all for them keeping whatever insurance they do have valid. However, as long as the box is out of sight of the driver whilst driving I fail to see what difference there is in recording laps using one of these and recording laps using a video camera. All I need to do now is find a way of fitting it to my Caterham with an aeroscreen

Whether you're interested in looking while you're on track or not, you'll be chucked out of a track day no questions asked if you're caught with one on.
Also, they can't really go "out of sight" as they're GPS so need a clear line of sight to the sky.
Edit: Nice bit of kit though.

There's an external antenna socket on the PerformanceBox and DriftBox, so theoretically you could have it hidden out of the way with just the antenna with a view of the sky. I asked on the last track day I went on about it's use and they said they're okay with things like the VBOX or DL1 that don't have a display, but would object to the PB/DB. A DL1 isn't actually *that* much more expensive (I was having a brief look last night) and allows external inputs so I may upgrade from my DB at some point in the near future.
race technologies DL1 , good piece of kit

Funny, I came on here to start a thread on the performance box - wondered if anyone fancied going halves on one - I'm struggling to justify the cost on my own but might be tempted if someone (in the London area) didn't mind sharing. I sprint in a South East based championship so would know the dates (approx 10 Saturdays) I'd need it, the rest of time the co-owner could have it.
Anyone interested, please PM me,
Chris
