slow trackdays??
Discussion
Anyone know of such a thing??
Im after a suitable trackday for myself and a few mates of mine, however we all own very very slow cars - and do not wish to hold up others too badly/ be dangerously slow...
Im absolutely fine with trackday etiquette etc etc - shall I just suggest we all book up a few spaces at a very very twisty track? I've only ever done trackdays at airfields/Croft - but I'd like somewhere alot twistier for this one if possible as im not in the Cerb this time...
Thanks in advance,
Ben CA

If you don't want to hold people up, a twisty track is not a good idea IMO.
Somewhere 'fast' like Snetterton would be ideal; you have two very long straights
where you can let a few 'powerful' cars pass you at a time and in fact at the end of the long Revett straight you are already on the right/correct side of the track for the Esses,
so you don't even have to worry about pulling back to take a correct line around a corner.

i'd agree. go to bedford - not a great circuit but 2 or 3 long straigts on the GT circuit and long track so no one stacks up behingd the slower cars going into a set of corners (eg Donnington - Craner Curves). on a twisty track there is limited passing and you will feel under pressure if you go into a set of nice corners, so much so that you end up compromising your line in anticipation of letting the faster cars (and Caterfields) through when they can scent a straight up ahead.ditto....the "lots of other slow cars at most places" you are very very unlikely to be the slowest wherever you go - honestly. was a bedford in the summer and there was a new Noble pootling round and about 40mph - he never got in anyones way and nobody gave him any hassle - he was just learning his car
As said above, I really wouldn't worry about being too slow. I've found that speed on track is a lot more to do with driver than car, I've been amazed at some of the cars that i've passed, and visa - versa!
As long as you remember basic tack ettiquet (sp?) and stick to the novice group if the day sessioned, you'll be fine! Have had loads of fun in our shed of a 205 gti, would maybe even go so far as to say more fun than some other people in much nicer motors who are (quite rightly) petrified of even a slight 'off'!

oops, sorry to hear that, were you not in the car? Shame, Cadwell would've been good, if the car could make it there and back without the AA !

It felt a bit floaty, which was a little scary as it was a 16 seater (looooooong!) - the original plan was to take the Smart on another trackday, sadly I fear I never will again. Felt sick and scared!
