First listen to the briefing; second do what the briefing tells you to.
Other than that:
Before you go on track, remove all loose objects from inside the car and stow them safely.
Check oil, tyre pressures, fuel, etc..
When you go on track the first time, take it easy, don't go off like a maniac, give the car and yourself time to warm up.
Almost every UK track operates overtaking on the left only - following assumes this is the case:
Watch your mirrors - try to keep right for faster traffic, preferably indicate right when you are ready for them to pass you.
Turn off your indicators when they have passed.
When overtaking a thank you wave as you pass is always appreciated.
Watch your fuel - you will burn fuel at a ferocious rate and its easy to run low, or worse out.
Before you come off the circuit after a session do a cool down lap, allowing your brakes, etc. to cool.
When you park up DO NOT apply the handbrake, leave it in gear.
Finally HAVE FUN!

If you have a powerful car, remember to lift on the straight so the faster driver ( with less powerful car) can get pass easily on the straight as soon as poss, so both of you can get back on line without delay.
