Anybody else going ? Weather looks good so shouldn't be too slippery..

Taking my Exige S on track for the first time. Should be interesting and different to the 135r previously.

I was hoping to go to join a friend of mine, but it filled up before I was able to book myself a space. Anyone know if it is possible to still get in somehow?

Always worth calling Donnington tomorrow and check for any cancellations. They also have a cancellation list which you can go on if someone drops out..

Oh, and a certain Matt Neal will be instructing Dunlop competition winners in the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup Seat Leon. Be careful - it may look like a racer, but it is being driven by first-timers all day.

I'll be there in my little Black Mk1 Golf GTi. There are a lot (35) going from Club GTi with VW's in various states of tune including a Mk5 GTi Golf race car. Looks like its going to be a good day.

Steve - I sort my insurance through AON Private clients. It's on a limited mileage policy (3000 miles) which includes 5 free track days. After using up the 5 (which I always do), it's around £35 a time !

I'm with AON Private Clients too
but they will no longer cover sessioned track days.
I've asked them for an explanation but none has been forthcoming.

That is strange as I've been with them some time. I've informed them of the event tomorrow and a seperate note confirming cover is in place. the only stipulation is no timing and must have marshalls etc

Had an excellent day but suprised how slippy that track is when its wet, it was like driving on deisel! Dried out in the afternoon and had a few good sessions. Loved the orange Porsche RS.

Hello,
Aon provides a policy which gives 5 free trackdays, however this is only 1 policy out of many that we offer. Other policies can have trackdays 'bolted on' at an additional premium.
We don't offer cover for single days, only annual policies.
We can't offer cover for open pitlanes, I took the bike on one about a year ago, and some clot was going the WRONG WAY around the track in his pimped up Clio. As you can imagine, we don't want a 50k sportscar on the same track as a numpty like that. We can offer cover for arrange PCGB and MSA trackdays, in the UK only.
I hope that helps, but if you've got any questions, don't hesitate to call me. My numbers 01252 767 7156.

Jack - Are there really UK Trackdays where they mix cars and bikes at the same time? eek

Has AON based your entire underwriting policy on this one incident (with no claim?) that you witnessed that day?

There are TDOs with good reputations for participant disipline and those who maybe are not as careful but I don't see how Sessioned versus Open Pitlane risk varies.

Thanks for supplying your phone number and I will probably call you some time but I feel that airing this on forums may give a good view of what is really happening out there; for instance I've seen a number of AON clients who do appear to get cover for Open Pitlane days.

Also people might have a view on which type they consider 'risky'.

Sorry to the OP for this thread hijack; maybe we should start a new thread?

That was me. wavey

Too damp/slippy in the morning and too noisey in the afternoon. Shame really as everyone was very friendly and driving standards were good.

Why the stupidly low noise limit on Trackzone days?

Last time I was at Donington with Goldtrack I didn't have a problem...

The local authorities state that Donington can have a certain number of 'noisy days' a year. Once the race days are taken into consideration it only leaves a handful of days free for noisy trackdays...........

The Mk2 Golf seen in that vid is owned by a very experienced Maurice Reeves and is extreamly rapid, judge for yourselves on this vid.

Was good to see the Porsche on the track being driven hard not just pussy footing around like others do with such expensive super cars.
