Planning on doing it later this year and tying it in with a Ring Trip. Not seen any proper dates as yet, but visited the 6 Heures last year and stayed at the Dorint which was nice enough (ugly outside, nice inside), I think the Radisson is nicer but was sold out for us. Track looks stunning and I can't wait to actually have a go rather than just being a spectator.

So do Bookatrack...

Johnny runs a fantastic SPA trip. Costs are £450 for two days. Accomodation costs vary depending where you stay...
SPA as a track is f%^*ing ACE!!! Just DO IT!!!!

Can't find any Spa dates on Goldtrack for 08 unless I'm looking in the wrong bit frown
Had in fact seen the Bookatrack ones but then not sure I want to do a 2 day event, was planning a day at Spa and a day at the Ring then home.

We did 2 days at Spa this year and planned to go on to the Nurburgring at the weekend. Unfortunately (and rather inconveniently) they had a 24 hour race there on that very weekend. We had realised before we went, so no wasted journey, but you should check what is going on at the Nurburgring before making plans. Yes, everyone should do Spa at least once in their life - and it is not all that far if you live in South East England, about 200 miles of mostly motorway once you have crossed the Channel. Nearer in fact than some Northern circuits. And best of all for some, there are no noise limits.

You can go via any of the euro operators if you wish, but overtaking on both sides is euro norm, which can be a bit scary to bods used to UK track etiquette & generally euro trackdays bods are fecking lunatics too! smile you might want to check the briefing has an english part if you don't speak german/french/dutch

These guys have done 'em in the past

http://www.pistenclub.de/

No public days like 'ring, its a closed race track unlike 'ring with its Touristenfahrten sessions. Many years ago Spa was public roads & you could drive it when races were not on, now its all closed like any other international track. (can see some of the parts of the old track tho if you drive around outside the circuit)

Spa with BaT is excellent, I couldnt recommend it enough wink I dont remember it being expensive for a day either.

There is also the little matter of the fantastic surrounding area including the spa at spa for a bit of relaxation. And the ring is so very close too smile For the weeks we went, it was non stop torrential rain, and it was still one of the best holidays I've had..... even after doing a full 360 coming through Eau Rouge on the last lap of the day smile

We did Spa with BaT earlier this year for the first time. We were both working, but still managed to clock just under 300 miles on track in the two days. Absolutely awesome biggrin

Would recommend booking accommodation through BaT as well because you land up staying in the same hotel as other likeminded track heads with a good social element to it all cool

We are going out there again in March with BaT and fingers crossed the August trip as well. Hopefully the August trip will include a BaT day at Zandvoort as well. A few of us are also planning on taking in the ring whilst we're out there.

My son and I did Spa in August with BaT, hired one of their Caterhams for one day. It was brilliant even though it was soaking wet in the morning. It dried out in the afternoon so we experienced both wet and dry. Only slight downside was that by the end of the day in the dry, the caterham was hitting the rev limiter on the main straight. Eau Rouge with lots of "eau" was amazing. Everything was well organised and there was no hassle at all about time in the car. If you have your own car that's obviously not an issue. It was so good, we are going again this year, and this time have booked the R400 that BaT run. All in all highly recommended.

We also visited the 'ring, the evening before Spa as it's only about 70 minutes away. Unfortunately it was wet there as well but still had a few great laps before they closed it early when fog joined the rain...... I have some great pictures of the car in the wet that Jochen from Frozenspeed took for me, I would have posted one but haven't worked out how to do that sort of thing yet.

However you do it, just make sure that you do it.

john
