Someone on the Westfield boardrooom is trying to get numbers together to work a discount on an exclusive Nurburgring trackday on Monday 10th March.

It's open pitlane, car only and you get to go round and round all day if you wish, without coming in every lap.

It's also great for novices as there is a comprehensive briefing and track walkabout, instruction available, car hire and mechanical back up and you won't feel pressurised / terrified by the local loonies in 911s and bikers with a deathwish.

£325 is the standard price, which when compared to a sessioned day at Silverstone for £299 sounds hugely cheap for the epic, life changing experience that is the ring, but with decent numbers we could get it down a little.

How many cars are needed to make the £325 per car viable?

The £325 is guaranteed, so it doesn't matter if we get 1 or 100, see here :

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

But if you're asking how much does it cost to book the track privately you'll have to speak to the ring direct. ISTR the waiting list is 2 - 3 years...

What if track is covered with snow ? Quite realistic scenario, considering the date.

If the track is closed for any reason, money will be refunded and it'll have to be a weekend or mountain driving and Riesling (though not together), which in itself is worth doing smile

Sounds great to me. Is it Westfield running it or are they just buying places on someone else's day?

75 experience day see here www.75experience.co.uk. At Oulton organising the 1000 mile half marathon that day otherwise I'd be there - only 5 or so exclusive days a year on the Nordschleife so its worth taking the risk weather wise, as you are not going to get an exclusive, full day summer date, not until the F1 GP goes back there anyway (2009).

There is a possibility of an exclusive "session" on the Nordschleife however - 2pm - 5pm, Fri 29 August. Cars only and experienced drivers, strict vetting. Max number 80. Anyone interested in this? It precedes 2 tourist days, Sat 30 + Sun 31, 8am - 7.30pm.

Approx price £200 per car.

In my (admittedly limited) experience Ron does not organise his own exclusive days - he buys slots on days organised by others. When I did the 75 Experience on an "exclusive" day it was actually a Zakspeed track day and Ron's cars were just five of about 75 cars on the circuit. Including a number of very, very fast VLN race cars.

That Friday session in August looks tempting though - bet the weekend will be heaving though.

Hi Melindi,

It is indeed Ron Simons of 75 Experience, via Carolyn Barker in this country - you may know Carolyn, she instructs for Prodrive among others.

I said the same thing on another forum when I first saw it mentioned.

Then I got in touch with Ron...

Lets pray for an early spring!

Hear hear - though I don't expect to be out for my first trip 'til May, will hopefully catch up then. I don't think Paul will be coming ... wink

I'm running the day with Ron Simons. He and I have booked the track together. Take a look at my website www.driverdp.com to find out more. You can book via him or myself.

I used this as a perfect excuse to make my first trip to the ring. I would've liked to have gone in my Westfield but there's no way on the planet it would pass the noise test. So I'll be trying the MX5 out.

Should be fun.
