I have to confess that I don't understand how they work. I could barely hear any noise in the pit lane today, so what is happening that the meters are still triggered?
If they continue to do days there, with this rule, we really need an explanation of how atmospherics affect the noise readings.
Another reason I didn't mention for not taking the NSX - it would trip the meters for sure! Your RS has a stupid amount of grip in the wet Dan, it honestly feels like more wet grip than I get dry in the Z4...... awesome car. My Porsche love affair continues
Otherwise, what a thoroughly enjoyable trackday - almost totally excellent on track behaviour from fellow participants, not too many cars, soaking wet all day (good for tyres & learn soooo much more about driving). I was disappointed at being told off for drifting - if you cant do that at Bedford in the wet, then where can you?!!!
I only spun once (and that was only a half spin) with an instructor because we were trying a different line through the esses, other than that the car was under control just fine (well, you know, er, a bit sideways
). Plenty folks spun at Tower (in front of the pits!!) and didn't get a telling off. Consistancy please Bedford!
Anyway a great fun day out on track and I did take a couple of really good tips from my instructor - bit impatient with the throttle on exit, and wind the lock off earlier when recovering from sideways. Really put these points into practice well in the latter session.
Nice to meet you Sean, albeit briefly. Like I said earlier, shame about the apparent new 'no drift' rule
Funnily enough it was OK for me to drift in the dry last week, smoking the inside tyre on a busier track.

I was impressed with your wheelmanship. Good control when the car was patently not going forwards

Also stunned at how loose the back of your car was - the mags were right when they said z4s were tail happy! I think you were the most sideways person there by far so not entirely surprised you got told off. They sent home a skyline that had been drifting and then tripped the noise meters. Can't remember if you saw the footage of my spin as the CSL was filming. It looked brilliant. Two fast 360s ending up pointing the right way on the track with the engine running. Could have kept going and looked stylish
Oh well thats what happens when one overdrives. You are right about the RSs grip. I was as amazed as you. The CSL guy was also amazed as he admitted he couldn't keep up, especially with the cars ability to put down power out of the corners. He went into the pits after I span as he nearly did the same spin and had been overdriving himself trying to keep up. Just shows that LoT has sensible members as we both realised our folly and took a time out.
Sean nice to meet you. Hope your client enjoyed her first day on track - pretty gruelling for a first time!
Anyway, what a great day. Never thought I'd enjoy the wet so much. Shame the rain got that bit too hard in the last hour and standing water was piling up.
Sean your client really seemed to be enjoying herself and also provided me with my first on-track avoidance moments. Being only my second TD (my first was at Bedford in Nov) I had been a bit concerned about how I'd react when/if someone spun in front of me. 'You' overtook me on the pit straight and then spun at the exit of 'tower', after recovering you passed me again only to spin right in front of me on a later part of the circuit and then roared past me on the pit straight again. I was reminded of the tortoise and the hare
I must say I admire track instructors tolerance of us tyros (I certainly must try my instructors patience!).
The GT3 looked awesome, its traction out of corners in the conditions seemed amazing. My favourite car of the day though was the 993RS - BEAUTIFUL.
Anyway a great day by the end of which I was actually getting on the pace for parts of a lap. I suppose I'll eventually be able to string together a decent lap!

Thanks Dan, I'm humbled!
The balance was heavily affected by the fact I'd done a trackday the prior weekend, so the rear tyres are well past their best
Fun, but not especially quick in the wet.
Didn't see the footage of your spin, although having experienced it first hand I had a fairly good idea of what it'd look like
I agree that the standard of driving with LoT was excellent, I'll certainly look to do a day with them again in future.
Do you know if there's any more info on the RX8? Strange incident that, the car was bl00dy miles off the circuit
Anyway hope its OK - if your going to have a moment like that, let it be @ Bedford

She did enjoy herself and was actually a very good driver for a novice. Well, in the session you mentioned, she kept having small moments, which the Porsche PSM took care of, so she wanted to see what it was like without it and learn how catch a slide, after about 3 spins, she did start to get the hang of it
I did say to her, the guy in the lotus must be really pissed of with us, as this is the third time we have overtaken him in one lap!

Nice to meet you too Dan, she loved it!
Stuart, less sideways and more forwards action next time

LOT track days are always great, some of the best imo.

All I know is that the drive apparently was busy indicating to let a car passed and must have lost track of where the track went, only to realise too late. I remember getting confused on my first bedford day too and if he was behind a car generating a lot of spray I can see how it might happen.
