Sharing a track day car or hiring one?
Discussion
Im hoping that in the not too distant future, I can find someone who will let me share their trackday car in return for me paying my way (is this possible/allowed?) or is there any circuits that hire out their own?
If so, what kind of cost?
I would like some track time before I get the Tasmin sorted, but the old mans car wont take it and mines auto
Any info greatly welcomed

Interesting...although I dont think I can fit into a Caterham due to the size of my shoulders
This topic comes up once in a while. My view is that unless you have mates who are regular track day goers and who are cool with the shared drive in their car (he who bends it mends it etc) then hiring a decent car is the way to go. I have met a couple of chaps trying to get cheaper track day car hire companies off the ground but the cars (and backup on the day) didn't look all that inspiring to me.
BTW, BaT have a big Caterham, SV bodied which I tried for size once when we had a smaller one on hire. It is huge and you would have to be very big indeed not to fit.

I know of one or two guys that do have trackday cars, but I dont know if they would be up for a bit of time sharing....could ask though BTW, BaT have a big Caterham, SV bodied which I tried for size once when we had a smaller one on hire. The choice of cars available from different track day hire companies do look good and are definitely a good option, but at the moment Im just not in the position to spend such money on a day....sad but true

Can anyone explain why some of these track days & experiences have a weight limit of 18 stone and a height limit of 6'6"
Did you notice
"You can have 2 drivers for no extra charge (ie bring a friend and halve the cost)"
on the bookatrack site?
If you do an open pit with a mate you will probably both get as much time as you want for <£300 each.
As for cost, when we take the 400SE on a track day we get through about £100 of petrol (don't know how much BaT includes?) and would estimate £100 worth of tyre wear (R888) plus servicing/wear&tear costs. Given that you get a spare car, mechanic support and all you have to do is turn up and drive the price does not look so bad really.

Im in agreement here, i too have looked at BaT on a few occations and got taken out by one of their guys when enquiring, Scott im looking at doing a shared hire job but prob not till the back end of this Yr due to holidays and Mrs birthday etc... worked out about <£300 that includes everything!!!"You can have 2 drivers for no extra charge (ie bring a friend and halve the cost)"

I think some of the experience companies have a height/weight limit to make sure you can fit in their cars.
Its a bit silly though as Im 20 stone and 6'3", but not built in a round manner, just heavyI can certainly get in Lotus Elise/Exige/Vx220/Ferrari/Lambo etc
