Yes, Steve is very competitive for toyos. Havnt asked him about the dunlops. My 888's are good in dry, havent tried them on wet track, but i dont think they are wearing well. Calum Lockie is very keen on the dz02's (03's out soon), and says they are excellent in the wet as well as dry and wear really well. Given that he runs them on his 968, and has vast experience with cars with different tyres, i thought i'd take his advice and try the dz02 when the toyos are done. If i find a marked improvment over the toyos i'll prob stick with them, if not, i might try others. I'll let u know how i get on with them. fwiw, i think the set of 888's were just under 600 quid. Dunlop quoted me about 145 a corner, plus vat, and carriage, and then its prob 15 quid a corner to get them fitted.

I have used Dunlop, Dzo1J, SSR, 02 and now on 888's....still marginally prefer the dunlops, they seem to settle down easier once up to temperature...I normally buy the Dunlops from www.mrtyremotorsport.co.uk deals depend on the size you need, worth shopping around.

Same here. I've used dunlop D01Js, DZ02Gs, SSR, MPSC and Toyo 888 and ignoring the SSR which are rubbish I prefer the dunlops. It is marginal however and as long as the 888 are £200 a set cheaper then that's what I'll use. Might sound I'm being cheap but they're really near identical in performance it's the dunlops just feel better. Thanks for all the feedback. I've been using 888's, but they seem to wear quickly (tho might be my driving...!). Think i'll give the dunlops a go and take a view after that.

ps. thx for the link, i'll give them a try. Was quoted 145 a corner for my sizes, plus vat and carriage and then fitting. comp with the 888's which were about 600 quid all in.

Thanks for raising this topic. I hadn't considered Dunlop trackday tyres as I have been rathered blinkered that Toyo 888s were the best value for money. Yet the supplier in the link above is doing some very good deals on the DZ02s for certain sizes (luckily this includes mine).
The Toyos are very noisy on the road. What are peoples' experiences of the Dunlops in the same situation? I would only use them for driving to and from the track but I still wouldn't want them to be more noisy than the Toyos.

Just a poverty 964. I haven't done anything fancy to it as it's used everyday. I like to do a few trackdays each year but I soon realised the benefit of having a second set of set of wheels with sticky rubber on. I think this is as far as I will go in terms of modfifications. It's good to hear that Dunlops are not that much more noisy as I my man/serf gets the weekends off!
