Hi people.

Is there is facility that any company offers where you take your own car out on a racetrack and you are just on the track by yourself for the day or afternoon or so.

If so where is the best venue and roughly how much will it cost.

thank you.

hi audifan - anything is possible and any of the Track Day Organisers will be able to arrange this for you. expect to pay between £3k and £15k for an exclusive hire for the afternoon.

cheers,

A slightly more cost effective solution would be to consider a sprint course. Two I'd recommend are:

Curborough (East Midlands)
You can hire the place for half or whole day for a couple of hundred. Only one car is allowed on track at a time, but you could share with friends or offer it to PHers to split the cost (there's more than enough time available, and there's a limit of about ten cars anyway). Curborough is tight and fiddly, but loops, so you can keep going around until your heart's content.

Llandow (South Wales)
You could book an exclusive, but (if you check before you book), you can go on a mid-week general test day. Choose well and it will be deserted or just one or two others (and you can chat with them to work in shifts). Llandow is a bit more open than Curborough, and also a loop so you keep chugging around.

Either way, you can get more than enough empty track. Neither circuit needs marshals for this sort of testing. But there's also no medical facilities. Just in case, have a mate handy out of the car, to at least be able to phone for an ambulance. Both are relatively tight, so you won't be hitting top speeds (c. 100 at Curborough, 120 at Llandow in tuned Caterhams), and both prefer smaller, nimbler cars (especially Curborough). But if your aim is to get your head around a new car, or play with settings, both are worth considering.

Circuit Days are running a day there on 3rd of May with only 25 cars. That will be pretty quiet.

Are you worried about hitting the other cars or them hitting you?

I'm sure you can hire 'some land' for far less, however hiring a race circuit which costs a fortune to build + maintain, marshalls, ambulance crew all comes to somewhat more. If it were cheaper do you think we'd all bother paying trackday companies 300 quid a pop to share space with others? wink

Bear in mind that the business rates for brands hatch are 2k per day! then you've got the costs of running the place!
