Elvington. whats it like?
Discussion
We had an excellent day there last year with Javelin. There set the track up with a couple of great high speed corners and there was plenty of room to overtake. The only downer was an extended closure due to someone rolling it. The track is wide and safe but the grass verge was soft as he found out to his cost. Quite srict on noise ISTR.
Thanks sounds good.
Just one more question. I have only done track days on the motorbike and they were all the same format. 3 groups beginer intermediate and expert all had 20 minutes ish each . The different groups were seperated but each group were all on the track at the same time. which was nice on the bike but I dont want any dings on teh car
My only concern is being caught up in somebody elses crash. Is there plenty of space on these days or are they bumper to bumper .
Thanks in advance

Elvington is usually under-subscribed and depending on the number of attendees it could turn out to be open pitlane.
If you're worried about damage, then get insurance - you only need to get insurance to cover the amount of damage you want to cover rather than for the whole cost of the car.
If you keep your eyes open you should never be in a position to be involved in someone else's incident, as you'll see it coming and will have left enough gap front & back to avoid this situation.
In 10 years of track days I don't think I've ever seen a car to car incident - plenty of car to grass, car to tyres and a couple of cars to roofs though.

never been to elvington when it hasn't been open pit lane, the locals have made noise an issue, but is still not as low as some places. only other thing is that off line there are quite a lot of stones & can pick up stone chips on paint when passing. other than that - good layout of track, long straight with quick corner leading onto it, bit of twisty stuff & if it is Javellin they are good people, friendly, will try to help and are well organised !!!

Forgot to say that it's much more fun in the rain, snow or ice.
The big sweeping top corner is great for power slides, and you've even got cones on the main runway to aim your back wheel for as you come out of the corner sideways
Just don't be tempted to tighten the exit too much to avoid the cones, let it drift/slide - otherwise you may end up going backwards into some boggy mess on the inside of the corner.
