Just got home, had a great day!!!
Proberably had the slowest car in a straight line but had a hoon round the twisty bits.
Was'nt much fun getting over taken by everyone on the straights though.
The was some serious metal there and some really quick guys.
Thought you looked very quick the corners and on the brakes, didn.t think you were that slow on the straights either. Was in red radical BTW.Proberably had the slowest car in a straight line but had a hoon round the twisty bits.

Good day out especially in the rain later on when hardly anyone one track.

I was there too (Black 04 996 GT3) - really enjoyed the day. Setting aside the legion of really quick cars out there: I have never been held up by a Radical before. The light green one with the novice cross that kept holding everyone up through the twisty stuff and standing on the loud pedal down the straights so that you couldn't get past it. Definitely missing the point of what they were driving... I guess everyone has to start somewhere, but he needs to work on his mirrors for whatever my opinion might be worth...Proberably had the slowest car in a straight line but had a hoon round the twisty bits.

Thanks to Scott for the PAX laps in the 997 and the pointers - very useful when I went out in my own Porker.
Between that and some rather more fundamental instruction from Sean from my session in the morning I was finally starting to find a comfort zone towards the end of the day (i.e. was getting smoother and consequently a bit quicker too). Still much to learn, but some very tangible progress on the day.
Apologies if I got in anyones way (it was only my second proper track day in the 911, and there were certainly times when it would have been evident). Particularly the red E30 Beamer (if anyone knows who it was - please convey) who was behind me when I had my spin (I managed to keep it on the tarmac, but I could see he had to take some avoiding action).

Have to agree it was a great day, really enjoyed it. Even the rain was good, as mentioned no one seemed to be out when it was raining.
However, even when the weather was good it still didn't seem that busy, and generally track etiquette seemed pretty good.
Most of all it was a pleasant surprise to find I was not totally out-classed - I was in the blue 993.

Sorry to hear that as it was my other car but from experience the gt3 usually just powers past the sr4 unless its a good driver in the sr4. Sr4 great on brakes and corners but pretty crap on straights. It was being driven by a first time trackday guy and he was with msv instructor that should have been watching his mirrors.
Wouldn't have been a problem if they weren't anchored to the left of the track for the entirety of the straight up to Hawthorn. With me on a half throttle in 4th close behind them. For 3 consecutive laps. Given my own relative inexperience this was far and away the best place for me to go past as the speed difference (with a viable passing line) would have been significant for a clean and simple pass. In the end I had to use the start-finish straight as he kept going to the middle of the track there for most of it. Thing is, even when I was alongside him I don't know if he realised I was there as he started to drift across a little then changed his mind. Up until that point I thought he was deliberately leaving a line past there, but once I was there: not so sure... Disappointed more with his instructor than the driver under the circumstances though, and frankly I am not really qualified to get on a high horse over it...

But still, didn't detract too much from a highly enjoyable day in the grand scheme of things.
FWIW - I wasn't overly keen to pass on the other straight as at the time (this was in the morning) there always seemed to be traffic coming out of the pits on to Paddock Hill bend and I was thus a little reluctant to overcommit (i.e. was happier braking a bit earlier than technically necessary : less speed there = more options). Wouldn't have been a problem later on in the afternoon, when there was less traffic and I was more comfortable with the track.
