WHAT BEN ELLIOTT RACING LTD CAN OFFER YOU

One to one driver coaching in your car.

Held on any track day in the UK or abroad, on a circuit of your choice.
The basic aim of the day is to work on your driving technique in order to bring about an increase in pace. Pace encompasses speed in proportion to yours and the cars limits, dealing with traffic, spatial awareness and reading the signals from your car and reacting accordingly.

The benefits of the above approach should lead to faster lapping without an increase in risk (due to increased knowledge) and in most cases the car benefits from longer tyre life due to more efficient usage.

Racers whether novice or experienced can benefit from Ben’s knowledge on preparing for a race weekend, from how to get the best from you and the car in qualifying, to practicing overtaking and defensive lines.

Ben prepares all of his race cars himself. This has given him a good grounding on how to set up a car. Racers and trackday drivers can both benefit from advice on what changes to make to the car in order to get it to perform at its best.

Typical format of a 1 to 1 coaching day with Ben (on an ‘open pit lane’ trackday):

8.00am Arrive and Sign on with Trackday Organiser
8.30am Safety Briefing + brief on circuit + driving techniques from Ben
9.00am Sighting laps / demo laps with Ben driving if required
9.15am – 1.00pm Driving sessions with Ben providing advice from passenger seat. Debriefs in between runs highlighting improved areas and what to focus on in the next run.
1.00pm – 2.00pm Lunch
2.00pm – 5.00pm Continued Driving and debrief sessions with Ben doing some driving laps if required.

A full day of tuition with Ben will cost £300 + VAT (£352.50) this does not include any fees for the trackday. Customers booking multiple days (3 or more) will get a 10% discount making the price £270 +VAT.

Ben Elliott Racing can offer discounts on Goldtrack days when purchasing the day through them.

One to one driver handling day.

A superb day for novices or experienced drivers. The focus is on analysing car feedback, car control techniques and increasing confidence.

They have 2 airfield venues, Kemble, Gloucstershire and Alconbury, Huntingdon. They divide the airfield into 2 sections where all of the activities (bar the sprint course) are coned out. This enables one driver to be with Ben and the other 3 can take turns practicing on the other half. This keeps standing around time to a minimum.

Here is the typical format of an airfield day for 4 people

8.45am Sign On
9.00am Safety Briefing
9.30- 11.00 Off set slalom (skid control)
11.05-12.30 Hairpin (braking + throttle use)
12.35-1.30 Lunch
1.35-3.00 Fast Chicane (managing weight transfer)
3.05-4.30 Sprint Circuit-Demo and timed laps (combining all of the above plus a bigger grin!)
4.35-5pm Depart

Prices start from £180 + VAT. Full details CLICK HERE

Team building/ car club day-Alconbury Airfield, Huntingdon

For 5-12 people. Drivers split into 2 groups, each with an instructor. Driving tasks as above. End of day sprint circuit with prizes for fastest lap and driver of the day. Lunch can be included at an extra cost. Click HERE for a video from a group Alconbury day.

Junior driver coaching 14-17yrs old

Ben Elliott has helped more than 30 youngsters start their car racing career in the Junior Ginetta and Saxmax championships. Ben now has 3 years of experience teaching junior drivers ranging from complete novices to karting champions.

The programme they now recommend with youngsters wanting to race (or just do trackdays with their dad) has a 100% success rate for achieving their race licence on the first attempt. This consists of:

  • 1 Airfield training day where they begin by teaching gear shifting, braking with the right foot (which kart racers won’t have done) and gaining a general competence in the car. Once up to speed they then go on to the same programme as the adults as seen above.
  • 1 Trackday where the junior drivers can get used to driving on a big circuit and really start to get a feel for the car. They cover all of the same things as they would do with adult racers.
  • ARDS Test. You go to your local circuit for this but they can help you arrange it. There are some circuits recommend more highly than others for dealing with juniors.
For the best results and a quicker learning curve the company then recommends a trackday with Ben before each race meeting.

Track days

Over the last 3 years Ben Elliott Racing Ltd have organised 4 track days with all monies raised going to a chosen charity. At a request of their customers, the company are branching into the track day industry by organising 2 European track days. Abbeville, France and Ascari, Spain, download a booking form on the WEBSITE

Track car hire

If a driver does not have a suitable track day car, Ben Elliott Racing Ltd can offer a fleet of cars to choose from. For the type of cars you can hire-go to www.track-club.com to see the fleet (need to book through Ben Elliott Racing Ltd)

Corporate days on a track

Events are organised around clients location, budget, numbers and car hire.
The instructor will drive each person around for 3-4 laps, showing lines and techniques. Each driver gets approx 2-3 x 15-20mins sessions driving with the instructor coaching them. End of the day instructor drives them round for fast laps. Awards for driver of the day and organised lunch or business meetings can be arranged, at an extra cost. In a bid to teach an old dog new tricks I've undertaken driver training with a number of operators including Cadence, Andy Walsh and Ben Elliot. It was the latter (Well Katie actually) that delivered the best day tailored to my requirements and I would recommend them to anyone looking for on-track driver coaching.

Another recommendation for Ben and his wife Katie. I have had tuition from both at a number of circuits which made a noticeable difference to my smoothness, lines and lap times.

Many people take up 15 minutes of tuition with an instructor whilst at a trackday. This can certainly help your lines, but can't be compared with a full day with an instructor as experienced and friendly as Ben teacher . Worth every penny IMO.

I will be booking again with you soon mate. thumbup

A rare opportunity to have a racing circuit practically free of cars to hone your driving skills.

This day is open to just 4 drivers and will run on an open pit lane format.

Ben's time will be split evenly between drivers with the day focusing on specific aspects of driving technique.

Drivers will benefit from Ben's demonstration and analysis of their driving in car. There will be group debriefs in the executive clubhouse to the side of the circuit.

A 'must do' for any driver wanting to get furthur up the grid or be a 'track day warrior'!

Abbeville circuit is just 50 mins drive from Calais. Noise limit 110db's. Lunch and refreshments provided.

Date 7th August Price £499 inc VAT. Drivers need to pay for own travel and accomadation.

The following day you can put all your skills in to practice on an Abbeville Track day for the price of only £99! (£109 if you do not attend the 7th August)
Open pit lane, 9am-4pm with no stoppage for lunch, only 20 cars, instruction and helmet hire available, passengers and extra drivers welcome.

Here comes another vote for Ben,

Having spent the day at Brands with Ben on Wednesday and not having done a trackday before without his help it would have been a waste of time.If anybody is serious about going faster around a track then this is the man to help.

Took my Exige S down to Alconbury on Saturday for a morning with Ben. I decided on a one to one session for maximum input - fantastic !

Without giving away all his tips and secrets, the simple things that should be done behind the wheel are the one's that make all the difference - they certainly did for me !

After a short briefing and a plan for the day, focussing on my specific weaknesses, we set about improving my driving. The surface was excellent (few if any stone chips on the car) and dry to start which made life easier through chicane's, slalom courses and other techniques. What I liked about the approach was that it focused on my weaknesses and wasn't a prescibed formatted day.

At the end and after some rain (which was great and challenging on AO48's) I came away with the confidence to give the car more and a greater feel for what it can do (and it's driver).

I'll be putting into practice with a few trackdays and will be back for more !

Another big thumbs up for Ben here!

I'm currently making the move from trackdays to racing so wanted to cram as much quality track time in as possible so I decided (largely on recomendation from Lotus-on-track and SELOC) to book Ben up for the Gold Track Silverstone OPL evening session last night (12th Aug).

I found Ben to be very straight forward and very capable of explaining things in laymans terms without being too basic or patronising in the slightest which was perfect. His track knowledge was superb and I certainly feel as though I know Silverstone, my car and my abilities a *lot* better.

One other thing worth mentioning is Bens use of headsets! Simple but genius - tuition that you can hear without trying to lip read smile

Well recomended and will definitely book up again!
Cheers,
Simon

Another vote here for Ben.

Just to say that Ben is a TOP instructor! There's lots of fast guys out there, lots of driver/instructors etc, but a combination of driving skills in a range of cars AND the ability to instruct at all levels in an easy and freindly way is difficult to find.

Ben can do it all and is great value.

Andy

Having just done the airfield day at Alconbury all I can say is best fun I have had in ages. As a training for track driving it's spot on due to the large run offs and you can set almost any corner you want to try.Trust me go for this and you will end up with a big grinbiggrin
