NurburgRIng, Open to Public 26th July?????

Can I just clarify with you all.

I've planned a trip to Italy and as going to call at the Nurburg Ring on the return leg to do a lap or two (nothing serious, just want to say I've done it!!).

I have been told that it is closed for an Old Timers event that weekend, but according to Ben Lovejoyes website, it appears to be open to the public between 8-1800.

Does anyone know for sure? Many thanks.

It's open for public laps from 1800 to 1930.

Even more confused now!! Where did you find that information out from?

According to the offical website, (http://www.nuerburgring.de/index.php?id=36) it is stating that the ring is open 8.00 till 18.00 on the 26.07.08 for Touristenfahrten. I'm guessing that means Tourist event, i.e. Open track??

The Oldtimer event is in JUNE, not July. Your original timings are correct: the Nordschleife is open to public on 26th July from 8.00 till 18.00. The DTM is running on the GP Circuit (so it will be quite busy).
