Lydden Today (5th July 08)

Had a fabulous day at Lydden today, my first track day Despite a somewhat dodgy forecast after 10 oclock the weather was good, the track is in good condition and the company was (in general) very amiable indeed.

I was slightly surprised that the usual only overtake on the left and not into corners rule didn't apply, but more surprised that the briefing didn't even mention allowing faster cars to pass which caused a few problems with one car in particular, but it wasn't really their fault! Never-the-less, I will definitely be back for another track day soon as I had a great day.

Yep, Lydden's track days are more like test days really. Short circuit with brief straights so overtaking in corners makes sense really. Seems to work well as long as people keep an eye out for each other.

They also dont black flag you if you spin....

They did black flag if you spun more than once in a session or at the same point repeatedly; although black flags were missed/ignored repeatedly by one car (with multiple drivers) which I felt should have warranted firmer repurcussions. But it didn't detract significantly from the day at all, I have tried to book (but didnt get through) for the next car TD there towards the end of next month
