Track day company recommendation
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking to attend my first track day soon. I won't be driving, I'll be going just a spectator to get a 'sample' of what track days are like to see if they are for me, before in invest in a car for them!
I'd like to know of reputable companies which organize track days;
I'd like the day to:
Thanks
Ben

I'd like the day to:
- Include 'mid-range' cars i.e Westfields, Caterhams, Elises, 911s etc
- Definitely NOT have any Chavs in the appropriate hatchbacks whizzing round
- Enforce strict rules on driving etiquette
Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben, I would avoid the Knockhill races!
I have a hatchback by the way!
But I know what you mean.
I have tried pretty much every organiser out there & I have found for track time, standard of driving, friendliness, safety and type of car you mention, www.Bookatrack.com seem to have all the bases covered.
I would go along and have a nosey at what goes on & possibly even talk to the organisers.

www.bookatrack.com probably cover all your bases and have a good range of days throughout the year.

Cheap ones or where the price seems "too good to be true". Simply maths apply here - the cheaper the track day the more cars required to break even / make a profit. Statistically, incidents are more likely the more cars in attendance so worth paying a premium to ensure low numbers, IMO.And yes, I know these comments sit nicely with our business model, but that's because i've adjusted my business model to ensure the best levels of safety & track-time, IYSWIM.

I agree; I would much (and I think most people would) rather pay a premium than risk safety and driving standards.

Been with Bookatrack, MSE, & Easytrack. I'd rate them in that order as well, however bookatrack is more costly but then the days i've attended with them have all been on real circuits whereas MSE is almost all airfields (very good airfields at that mind). Easytrack I won't go with again, did Goodwood with them (first time i'd ever been to Goodwood) and wasn't at all impressed. If i was a 100% novice it'd have put me off trackdays forever.
I've just been on a day with Circuit Days that was well organised. Noone did anything inappropriate more than once!
Only downside was Track Club cars - driven by many different people through the day, some very quick, others insanely slow/novice; makes it a bit difficult sometimes not knowing what to expect.
Otherwise a very well run day with a good mix of cars and a nice bunch of people (Hi to anyone I met - we were in the dark blue race MR2 mk1)

I've not done a day with Easytrack, but I wouldn't judge them just on a day with Goodwood. Goodwood is a force unto itself; including strict policy on how sessions are run (the continuous queue thing). Not sure what your issues were with the day but its possible they were all circuit-imposed.S
Only done 4 so far, found MSV to be very professional. They do the novice only days (which is a bit of a joke with a few there)which is the best way to start as there is less cars typically, and a lot of people on their fist outing in the same boat. Try to ask who is going on the day you pick, to get a few PAX laps, and I highly recomend tuition as soon as possible when you decide to take the plunge (money well spent)
Enjoy, it's very adictive
PS Oulton Park IMHO is a pleasure to be at, even if you are not driving around it
Donnington is up there as well

I do a few days with Easytrack every year and am happy to use and recommend them. I've also done a couple with Goldtrack and would happily go with them again though there did seem to be a lot of very quick non- road cars at the Gold track events. Very rarely had any problem with hot hatch drivers, most of whom I'd guess have, like myself, just got the one car to drive to, from and at the trackday and to work the next day and are in no rush to break it or anyone else's car.

It was more a reference to the chavs than the hatchbacks, if you know what I mean!
