Hi, anyone know if my 98 M3 Evo with "Induction kit" would be ok for noise levels at Bedford Autodrome? (standard exhaust)

Does depend on the day you go to Safest thing with bedford is to check it beforehand. As if you trigger the drive by limits you are black flagged straight away and are off no questions asked.

At a recent day 2 guys with Mini Cooper S's were black flagged due to to drive by limits on the sound monitor. One was only 0.1 DB above the limit and he was still black flagged and not allowed out again, he got 3 laps in and after paying 199 quid thats not much fun. Bedford have loads of problems with the local council and i believe thwey are monitored with a link to the council which notifies them of any infringements. Therefore they take it rather serious.

be safe and get it tested before going on. Oh and both those cars i said about passed the idle test.

Thanks, were can I get the noise level tested? I assume it won't be easy as the drive by limit seems the main problem?
My car at 3/4 revs should pass fine, but it growls like a CSL on full throttle!

I've been there in my Mk1 Golf. I have the bottom of the airbox cut off, a ram air system to feed the cold air and a K&N panel filter. I got called over to say that I was approaching the black flag level on my last session, so short shifted as to not go over 6000rpm (redline is at 7350) and that worked.

Would it not be safer to put the original airbox back on, and if you haven't got it, get one from a breakers if you plan to do a few days?

Simon.

Bedford will do a free noise test where they drive by a few sensors for you. Call and book.

It's often induction noise that trips the drive-by meter at Bedford...

Just as an aside if you go to Goodwood on 98db days you will have the same trouble with the drive-by meters, very sensitive to induction an/or turbo sounds.

Considering I think it's the best place I've driven on track in the UK. Plenty of space, nice long track. Open pitlane. Fantastic.

I wouldn't think just an induction change would affect the car enough to make it fail. But it appears other posters have had problems.

I got kicked off last time in my CSL. Following an F40 who didnt get kicked off. Argued to heel but go figure. Cant be arsed with that bloody track anymore. Dull and a waste of money.

Well, actually they have loads of trouble with one resident of Thurleigh village, who should be happy that Jonathan Palmer bought the airfield, and not TNT Skypak who were going to use it as an air cargo hub with 3000 aircraft movements a year....

I keep trying to access that page, but it keeps shutting down, is it just me or is there a problem with the bedgov website?

What's the legal situation - is there no possibility for them (the Autodrome) to apply to a court to change the oppressive council restrictions ? Or is it seriously in a residential area so that would be justified ?
