Hi, been on a TrackDay before and really enjoyed it, so im going again and taking my dad.

Hes got questions though about liability that i cant answer.

Now i know all the usual stuff about your car not being insured and have looked into taking out insurance for my car and for injury.

Dads point was whats stopping someone taking me to court if i crash into them and disable them or there car?

For instance if its bad and im at fault and they cant work again - could i be taken to court for everything i have..................

Would appreciate a little clarity on this one...........

IANAL but my view is that if negligence could possibly be proved then you'd better watch out. Same as in any walk of life these days...

Not a lawyer either, but my view would be that although they could certainly take you to court, your protection would be the forms that everyone signs in order to participate on the track day in which you acknowledge that it is a risky activity which you (ie the participants) are undertaking at your own risk.

Additionally I suspect the the first people to be taken to court would be the trackday organisers rather then other participants.

On a slightly different note it is worth noting that your trackday excess is usually IN ADDITION to your road excess.

No racing and no overtaking through corners: accidents almost always mean stupidity.

I'd go with this too. The form is a disclaimer, so I think that would cover it.
