Oulton Park 21st November PM
Discussion
I'm there too (I'll be the one in shorts), but like someone said instructors are the way forward. Lines, speeds and braking points used by one person in their car might not be best for you in yours. These guys are paid for their knowledge and expertise soexploit them. You can normally blag the odd ride in other peoples cars and that can be quite educational too!
So McBontempi, how was you're first time at Oulton? It is possible that the weather was less than ideal (for a first time) but if entertainment was higher up your list of priorities than outright speed then hopefully you had as much fun as I did. Despite the rain I managed to keep the lid off all day and enjoyed the slightly slippery conditions even if a TVR wouldn't be top of many peoples lists for such conditions.
Considering the weather the day went pretty smoothly which, in part, must be down to the organisers (Easytrack) and of course the marshalls but particularly the drivers. Such days seem like they could be a whole bunch of disasters waiting to happen, but despite a few offs and a few red flags hardly any time was lost and nobody seriously bashed their car. Everyone seemed to deal so well with overtaking and being overtaken that much of the prang potential was lost. If only all days went so well. So thanks from me to everyone involved and apologies to the guy in the orange Sierra - I'm sure me spinning in front of him spoilt his line on the corner (Driuds?).

Well I enjoyed the day albeit after my little skating on ice episode at druid's. Stupid really about my fourth time at Oulton and know how tricky Druids can be on a damp morning especially on the first few lap's.
Apologies for one of the red flags, down to a broken gear rod on my part, went into the hairpin changed down into second and gear stick started going round in circles! Quick trip to Crewe and a new Group N gear rod and all was well again. Afternoon session was busy and tricky in rain that was at times quite heavy.
Anyway here's the result of my Druid's Kiss.

Debrief:
1. Check fluid levels before setting out( coolant was 4 litres down) could have been nasty, if i hadnt noticed a couple of laps in!
2. Cascades is a bit bumpy and upsets the balance of a light car.
3. 5 times is the 'reasonable' amount of times you can spin before being sent home.
Well its clear I can learn from all 3, and id have to say easytrack were, firm but fair, and there was only 10 mins left of track time left when they sent me home, although I never caused a red flag, unlike some!
Was a good learning excersise though, I enjoyed the changing conditions, once I got in the swing of it.
Anyone up for a Mallory Park day sometime soon?

the heavy rain seemed to wash away the oil very quickly, had it been drizzle there may have been a lot more spinners.
must say that the driving etiquette was very good and I didn't encounter a single egomaniac all day (unlike some trackdays I have done)and also add that marshalls were 1st class.
