Hi

I know a few people offer race car hire...and they could be used for test days - which is relatively expensive, but I wonder does anyone do a bookatrack-alike track day + car hire for open-wheel cars?

I'm not after anything particularly fast, just want to try my hand at an open-wheel car for a chuckle really - have not been in one since an experience day years ago

(been tracking and racing tintops since so I'm experienced enough on track - just after something different)

I have a race license so test days are ok, but really just fancy a chilled drive around in something different.

Anyone got any ideas?

given you have a race license your best bet would be to call up a team and do a test day. i cant see a FFord team charging that much for a day at a test with some personnel to help, you could probably get a FRenault and change from a grand to be honest. i have been looking for just what you say (but i dont have a race license) for ages, the best i found was a lapping session at brands in the formula single seater things they have there. cant see it being that great to be honest, usual rev limits and stuff will apply

What about Palmersport at Bedford Autodrome?
They have many of their Formula Jaguar cars there...
And apparently no rev limits etc.

i have seriously considered it but i dont want to spend £650 and then have to do the porsche, XKR etc. i really want a man with a FFord and a circuit who will let me spend all day lapping for the same amount of cash. i think an ARDS test is the only option.

Assuming it's not too far for you - i'm reasonably confident that if you phoned Richard Peacock at Anglesey Circuit (01407 811400) you could negotiate a deal to use one of his crossle's for sensible money - especially at this time of year.
