I did my first two track days in Nov/Dec at Brands Indy and want some more!

But what circuits would suit the humble MX5? In this car it's all about the corners, so I'm obviously thinking that the power-circuits might not really suit.

Where would you take a lower-powered car?

Anywhere other than Silverstone (GP circuit) will be fine - just carry more speed through the corners and try to pick the circuit configuration that doesn't involve 1/2 miles straight sections.

Cadwell, Oulton, Anglsey, etc. while great for high-powered vehicles are also great for lower-powered ones - as long as the group you're out with are of similar power-to-weight ratios.

I've seen MX5s having fun with Caterham Roadsports, and while neither of them are exactly powerful, but they're not exactly barges either.

took my old one to spa for two days open pit lane, just carry speed through the corners drive smooth, try not to go sideways or scrub off speed in any way and enjoy!

Matt, your profile says you're in Kent, home of Lydden, the ultimate low power circuit!

Good call - I'm looking into Lydden. Have you done it?

Been sprinting there for the last couple of seasons, it's a great little circuit. Track days there are run to different rules to the norm though, more like test days with passing allowed both sides and uninvited passes allowed. May sound a bit daunting for the less experienced but works well in practise.

The track days I've done there are sessioned so you can start in the novices group and work your way up.

I've done Lydden Hill in my old MX5 several times and I'd say it is very well suited to something with comparatively low power.

And I'll be back later this year with a somewhat higher power MX5 smile

Cross the pond and try Abbeville (1Hr Calais), Croix (1.5Hr Calais), Folembray (2Hr Calais) and Ecuyers (2.5Hr Calais).

All our perfect for lower powered cars.
