I though that was basically an airfield location - i.e. concrete mostly with some tarmac bits?

It's been a good 6 years since I was there last though wink

Best layout i've done with MSE. Others i've done are Keevil and Hullavington.

Yeah, its a good crack. Best airfield location run by MSE, if not in the south.

I'll be there in a Grey Pug 205.

What car are you taking Martin, come and say Hi.

Cheap.

Very cold.

Lots of sheep st around.

Not a bad layout.

Some of the concrete sections are a quite rough.

They (MSE) have changed the layout at Abingdon, they've put a Right Left chicane in on the main runway rather than the Left Right chicane used previously. The left side of the carriageway was braeking up and a bit patchy in places so a move to the right was the right thing to do.

Despite being an airfield there is plenty to hit in the way of earthworks, banks & metalwork at Abingdon.

It's a classic airfield, it has a weather system all of it's own and can be very cold even in spring time. Fuel is close by at Esso, Tesco & Shell stations all under a mile from the site entrance.

I thought Colerne was supposed to be the best?

I was originally booked for colerne but i realised my bro was off work that day so changed it to abingdon. Fair play to mse they were more than happy to do this for me. Seem nice people.

Martin.

Ps thanks for all the feedback guys.

I've done Colerne a fair few times, but have always gone back to Abingdon, this could be as it suits my car a bit better though. Bless the little 205, its a bit asthmatic down the straights.

I guess I should have said IMO abingdon is the best.

Abingdon is all right. Not combe though for sure. Not sure you can really compare! Good for learning your cars limits of just having a blast. I went twice last year and every time I went the same guy in an R500 would be there and all he wants to do is go everywhere massively sideways. (or in circles!) :lol.

Vid from my last trip.

Anyone know if onlookers are welcome here? Have never done a track day but this would probably be my first choice due to layout and location so would really like to come along and see how the day goes. Due to financial constrictions I'm not really happy tracking my Eunos until I've done the brakes, new tyres and a service.....

Shouldnt be a problem to turn up on the day, but track viewing is limited to say the least. These pics are pretty much all you can see of the layout.

Worth a visit, get to talk to other drivers and feel the atmosphere.

Yeah, just really want to get a feel for how the day is structured, what people are using on track etc. Will try to pop down, definately not working that day. Is it easy to find? I'm coming from Winchester so presumably just bomb up the A34.....
