track day tyres
Discussion
I tried to buy a set once but ended up with Indysport branded tyres which came in the size I wanted. I have also used Colway F2s on my old 205. They are all the same I think. Remould slicks with a 17% tread pattern. Performance bargain IMO. At least as good as 888s in the dry, maybe better. They are a swine to balance though. Gives Ears Motorsport a call and ask them about your application. They were helpful for me.
I used them on the BMW for a while. I found them very vague. They gripped OK in the end but there was an awful lot of movement before they gripped. Whether this was sidewall flex or just poor design i don't know. I guess this is down to not being able to guarantee what carcass they retred. In terms of all out grip they are easily up there with the R888 i run now but in terms of feel they were nowhere near. Their price doesn't really make it worth the bother as the saving is so small. Oh, and i had to send one back as the tyre fitter couldn't balance it (it was over 100 grams out).
If you want a set of fairly grippy tyres to destroy on an airfield day then they're OK but i wouldn't get them again.

I heard similar. Spoke to the fella from earsport who said 888's can offer better feedback and (shocking) better in wet.If you want a set of fairly grippy tyres to destroy on an airfield day then they're OK but i wouldn't get them again.
I thought about RB5's due to cost but decided on 888's

Oh, yeah, i forgot about the wet. RB5 are terrible in the wet. I remember getting wheelspin in 3rd at about 25mph away from a set of traffic lights in the rain. R888 are way better in the wet (almost road tyre good in anything less than deep water).Just had my toyo's fitted today. soft were out of stk so took medium & pleased I did they are more than soft enough!
Had it laser aligned at Elite in Essex & seriously the difference. I had to write something - I didnt know you got that sort of grip from road tyres. Get them warm and the limits are very high.
I honestly think it makes driving my kitcar safer as I can easily stop or turn that much better.
For £260 I rec. these tyres to anyone!
