Finally got around to uploading some video from the 'ring last year. Great fun rolling along in convoy for most of it with two others & swapping the lead about a bit.

Note, this was a private trackday hence the overtaking on both sides, if you go there for public 'Touristenfahrt' overtake only on the left side.
Doesnt overtaking on either side cause confusion? Id have thought that the Nordschleif needed a bigger/firmer briefing (overtaking on the left only; not into braking areas or through corners etc - theres enough to worry about at the 'Ring without a free-for-all adding to it) than a short circuit?

Could certainly be argued that way. As this was a Motorsport Academy day the average experience level was supposed to be higher than on a typical TF day.Part of the point of the day was to simulate some race conditions, the point where even fake 'wrecks' are put out on circuit and you are monitored for your obeservation and flag compliance. As I was doing this as part of a DMSB license test (German National A) any mistakes in that regard would have resulted in a fail.
The briefing made it clear that overtaking was allowed both sides, and they did not prohibit braking zones or corners either. The rules were pretty much "don't hit each other".
It worked fine on the day, no incidents as a result of tangles mid-corner etc.

For trackdays it tends to run according to the TD organisers rules I think. Usually that means overtake only by consent, on the left, and on straights only. For public Touristfahrt days you cant really start having briefings etc. Its public road rules and drive accordingly, or bust.

I know where you're coming from, but my point is that once you start down that road of "improving" TF, then it isnt really TF any more.Once it starts to look more and more like a trackday then along with it the GmbH will have an increasing obligation to 'do it properly'. That means manned marshal posts etc and all the costs that come with it. There are trackdays for those that want them.
TF is unique, and its worked just fine for 80 years. It would be nice if more people would just treat it appropriately though.
