Anyone been to Donnington ?

If so, how wide is the track? I'm planning my first track day and need to go within the next couple of weeks.

I need a track as wide as possible in case of spins etc. - can't find a decent airfield venue within my timescale (wife gets back from holiday!).

All comments/advice welcome.

Donnington is a good wide track in most places and the only problems I have there are cooking the brakes. I've even seen one or two Elises spinning off through Craner and onto the grass with no contact/damage.

Watch Goddards aswell (the kink before the start straight on the short circuit). It's mildly off camber and if you turn in too tightly you risk losing the back end and ending up in the pitlane wall.

Thanks for the warning, but I shouldn't have a problem with the back end going out as I'm not planning to drive like a lunatic and my car has quattro!

Sometimes not having a RWD car has its advantages.

Have a look at Ted's Trackday Calendar, International drivers Club (www.id-club.com) are offering loads of access to Bruntingthorpe in the next fortnight. It's in roughly the same area as Donington and you couldn't wish for a wider track.

DoNington is a great track, with the onyl narrow feeling bit being the Craner Curves (yet people still try to over take there).

There's lots of run-off and plenty of gravel to catch you.

Keep an eye on your front brake pads thoguh as they'll be well worked.
