Warning first timer at Croft 4th May
Discussion
Hi, new to the forum and thought it might be worth getting a little advice. Unlike most of you guys I have never done trackdays before, my only experience having been a few laps in a Lambo around Elvington on an experience day. I found the only way I could get a taster of the circuit was to do a 1-1 ards lesson which was amazing- as was the instructor which showed me just how much I had to learn!
Looking at the list of cars and experience of drivers it seems pretty hardcore with lots graded as inter/expert and driving the likes of Arom/GT3/Radical/Westfield etc scarey! Guess I better take a spare indicator bulb lol.
My car is an EP3 Civic Type R which I have uprated the brakes to Tarox G88s with Ferodo racing pads on front added some Blue racing fluid and better gearbox oil other than that it is standard.
Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Take your time dont rush. Also dont get intimidated by people trying to bully you out of the way.Best of enjoy the day as its all about that for me .You should have a cracking day and toward thwe end of the day you confidance will improve your lines will get better and you will be quicker each time out.If you can you tube croft to see the track from a drivers lap
I'll see you there ! It does look like a very "varied" field but James28's comments as exactly right ! There are rules to trackdays and just concentrate on your driving will be important. Usually if you stay to the end of the day the pack thins out quite a bit and you get more space and quality tracktime. So don't "tire" yourself out (mentally) too early in the day. I'm looking forward to seeing the X-Bow !
Cheers

Thanks for the advice counting down the days now, can't wait. Have booked a trainer for the morning and going to pace myself and try to resist spending too much time on track until later on in the day.
No this is a bit off topic but are there any other circuits anyone could recommend pref. as close to north east as poss for a novice. Have been to Elvington but really prefer circuits.
p.s. thats an amazing car you have scorpion!

I'm afraid there isn't a great deal of choice in the North / North East. It's Croft which is having "licencing" issues and is under threat. There is Elvington which you have tried. Cadwell Park is next which is a fantastic track but quite difficult ( lots of tight bends with barriers). There is Oulton Park in the West as well. They run "test days" at Teeside Autodrome but it's a very small circuit - you usually share it with bikes (not running at the same time) it's reasonable cheap. I have used it for shakedown work. Check out www.uktrackdays.co.uk for guides etc. Hope this helps.
