ok so I have removed the radio ariel of my car and am left with a hole, what do people use to plug it , if anything?

Rubber blanking grommet would be the most obvious suggestion.

That's the most simple solution, however I like to cut a circle of Carbon Fibre sheet under the hole, and secure it in place (tidily/invisibly from the outside) with some mastic or foil tape.
