Trackday costs

Why do these vary so much? I've paid £99-£230 for open-pit at Oulton. Both mid-week.
I could possibly understand weekends being dearer, but it just seems to be name-your-price.
Anyone fancy setting up a not-for-profit trackday company?
........ are you prepared to absorb the losses aswell?? Remember to hire Oulton Park will cost you in the order of £13000 per day, and if you have 60 people, you would have to charge £220 per car to break even! What happens if you only have 50 book on, are you going to absorb the £2000 shortfall?? Take into account your marketing cost, insurance etc, & you may realise that it is not a sound plan. The market is almost at saturation point, and for another operator to "try his hand" makes it even more difficult for the established TDO's.I could possibly understand weekends being dearer, but it just seems to be name-your-price.

I'm sure your post is just a way of showing your confusion at the various charges, but there is a great deal more to what is involved, and to be prepared to not make a loss, the volume of days you would need to run, would be a problem, just finding the money upfront to pay for the circuit, would be a major hurdle

Er, yeah, bit more clarification needed on my part! Yes, it's not the fact that it costs £230, it why is there such a massive variation? The BMW Owners Club often hires Oulton, and the cost is £99/120 per car. They don't make it some oversubscribed wacky-racers affair either...
Aren't the BMWCC ones subsidised as part of your membership - I know they're certainly excellent value for money.Maybe they just get a very good deal from the tracks compared to the 'normal' TDOs?
