Nürburgring Hotels - 14th-16th August 09
Discussion
Although its not a track day as such, I thought this looked like the best forum to post in...
I am looking at visting the ring for the first time in August (Weekend of 14th-16th) on the way back from my holiday in Spain.
I am aware that it is DTM weekend at this time and have a few questions:
- Will the ring be too busy due to the amount of people visiting? Will I be able to get a good number of laps in over the course of the weekend?
- I have been having trouble booking hotels (under EUR100/night) as the all seem to be full up - can anyone reccommend anywhere?
Any advice would be much appreciated

we went to the ring last year on the dtm weekend and it was surprisingly ok on the actual ring itself. not dead quiet but no queing to get through the barriers.
being students we always try and go for cheap hotels. the one we went to last year was called the on-road cafe. It is a few miles away from the entrance but very easy to get to and fine for out needs. I cant remember the price but it cant have been too bad otherwise i would have remembered! basic rooms with 2 bathrooms per floor, but it did have very good cheap food (about a fiver bought a very hearty meal), and lots of ring memorabilia about (the hotel owner likes bike racing).

Thanks Chris,
The on-road cafe is one that has been mentioned to me before, I sent them an e-mail this morning so fingers crossed!
Do they have any rooms with en-suite's? I'm not bothered personally but I think the Mrs might, seeing as I have done alot of persuading to get her to agree to this massive detour on the way home!

When we go we tend to stay here: http://www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de/hotel/
I've only been the once, and stayed at the Ringhaus. Frank & co are very friendly. They have a workshop if you need to tinker with your car, and it's the closest to the main entrance, plus it's only a 5 minute walk to the Pistenklaus where they do a fab steak on a stone (a must when visiting the ring). Going again in two weeks, can't wait! :-)
Blau ecke is where i genrally stay, if there fully booked ( which probably will be) speak to Mikaela and she will help you find another place. But DTM is usally fully booked, also if camping get to the campsite early. One time we camped at DTM weekend we turned up late friday nigth, struggled to find a pitch and were kept awake with the noise of nointy noin neuf ballons at 4 in the monring followed by german techno, not the best if you want to be up next morning for some track action. Oh and track is actually quiet during DTM as they will be watching the race.

Thanks for your help everyone, I finally booked a room at this place: http://www.hotel-kalenborner-hoehe.de/
Its a bit far out (25 mins drive) but should keep the other half happy. Im amazed at how fully booked everything is.
Can't wait for my first trip to the ring, anyone else going around this time?

TEKNOPUG - just seen your reply. Thanks for that, shame that I've already booked now. That website looks good. I will bear it in mind for next time.
No worries - I came back yesterday but I don't think that he's returning until this evening, so tomorrow would have been the earliest online response.I'm planning on going that weekend too. We are planning to camp, E12 a day, but as said expecting it to be busy and noisey!
the North loop is open friday evening, all day saturday and all day sunday so I don't imagine there will be big queues on the gate.
Does anyone know about the new card payment system they've introduced? And how much it per lap/5 laps/10 laps and so on now?
Nick.
