Track Day at Goodwood today ?
Discussion
Popped into Goodwood as I was just in the area and there seemed to be a trackday on - although there was only about 10 cars there maximum.
I'm sure I recognised a black Ultima because of its number plate so I'm sure its somebody off here.
There were a couple of Porsches, Caterham, M3, Red Continental (going very quickly effortlessly !) MX5 and a Corvette in the paddock along with an Exige, Aston and a meaty looking SD1 !!

So was it a normal track day there ? Can't believe there were so few cars there ?
Did that SD1 ever blast round the track ? Would have loved to have seen that go !!

I wish I had now !! Thought it must be some PH'ers out there !! Paddock was pretty bare though as every body was out in their cars. What was up with GTWaynes car then ? It seemed to have bits falling off it ?!
Forgot the radical was ther too - whats the history behind the SD1 ? Ex touring car or something ??

Well today was the day then.
Rusty what have you done to those tail pipes, a little different to what was on it a few weeks ago I suspect?
Wayne did you get many laps in?
He got a good morning in. Rusti was at it all day!! Sounded great!! Really deep, not metallic like it used to be.Rusty what have you done to those tail pipes, a little different to what was on it a few weeks ago I suspect?

Wonderful wonderful day - Goodwood at it best!!!!!!!!! 16 cars booked although you wouldn't have though it was that many, no traffic, 5 cars out on track, lovely people, as much track time as you could need. First couple of damp sessions kept us real, then typical Goodwood sun. The perfect situation to gently bimble around in the new to me Ultima. Many thanks to previous owner LuckyP
Twas indeed a good fun day. Rusti was behaving just as you would expect a mature track war horse type to - softly softly catche monkey type stuff - much to sensible for the owner of a BLACK car but we can work on that 'eh Rusti
P was behaving almost like the pro he is trying to be and by the end of the session was going really well
Musn't forget the Prof - He was at hand to talk us through our spread sheets, ride some PAX laps and help me change my wheels amongst other things, thanks Steve
After wrecking my BMW Z4MC at Castle Coombe last year I decided to by a track dog and campaign that as the possible financial loss due to the result of having an off is no longer a daunting prospect as it once was. The car? a '94 BMW M3, the trick bits? full Leda 2 x way coilovers, AP 6 pots with 330mm discs and for the first time on Sturday - SLICKS!, the result: = Fanf*ckingtastic. I am no racing driver but I do not feel that I could have gone any faster on the day, the car instilled massive confidence and is proof that you can having a tool for the job at sensible money if you put your mind to it. The down side - being a bit of a dog meant that the odd failure is to be expected from time to time and true to form after lunch I managed to tear an engine monting clean of the cross member!
I will be at GW on the 6.6.09 hopefully with the GTW but will more than likely hedge my bets and take the track dog as back up - I will call him Spot
, see you there.

, see you there. Yes Oliver, it was indeed most enjoyable and good to make you and your palls acquaintance
I retrieved my engine mounting, managed to re-fit it (of a fashion) and drove home without any further incident but after accessing how much a set of new replacement mounts were going to cost along with a couple of front wheel bearings I placed a call to a fella in Eastbourne who was advertising his '94 Avus blue M3 in the classifieds and as of a few hours ago am now the new owner of said beast. I had planned to strip the car for parts but as it is actually a better prospect than Spot I have decided to transfer the coil overs/brakes ect. and create Spot II. These cars can be had so crazy cheap these days it hardly makes sense to do much else. Having said that, if my Ultima is ready by the 6.6.09 it will be at G/W making its debut and if not, it will be Spot II, maybe see you there
