We were all just glad that you and your passenger got out ok!!
Im ordering a full cage for mine, as we speak !
I must admit, I did think the same about the logs. I would like to think that had they not been there, you would've just spun to halt, and no real damage would've been done. Except to your pride, of course ! I suspect you would've preferred that any day !
Looking through all the pics though, it seems you weren't the only one. A Volvo rolled at the end of the day too, Im told.

Some good pics there. I was driving that MX5, nasty business. Logs along the edge of the track can't have been the best idea, although I'm not sure what I would have hit had they not been there to flip me.
Pleased you got home ok, strange sort of a day really, I had the feeling the day was over subscribed for what turned out to be a 4 mile circuit. Still the charity came off well though, and that is what it was all about. Thanks guys!! I was really appreciate that, same goes to anyone else that was there on the day, everone was superb!
Full cage is an absolute must for a 5 on track. There is no doubt in my mind that the extra bar across the the top of the windscreen saved my life and that of my passenger!
Without the logs I'm pretty sure I would have stuffed it in to a small post or tree after enough time to slow down to only cause cosmetic damage. Was one of the only areas of the track that had potential run off area too.
Oh well, every one walked away ok which is the main thing. I owe my mate a car now tho, fingers crossed for the raffle!

Like Weaver my No2 son owes my mate a car.
He crashed the MK and was lucky not to have done too much damage to the car (tomorrows inspection will tell) or passenger (stitches in his hand) and himself (bruised ribs). They ran out of road where there was some kitty litter and then scrub but passenger was still attacked by a gorse bush.
Dorchester Hospital were great and fortunately not over-busy.
I was suprised that the RAC charged both ourselves and the M5 driver for recovery as both had unlimited personal recovery cover. Since it wasn't a motorsport event that seems unreasonable. Any comments?
Did you sort your recovery out Weaver as I gather you were similarly covered?
The Volvo driven by a Marshal ended up way off the course and up-side down, the driver unable to release himself without help. Looked a total write-off but again saved by the roll-cage.
Altogether an interesting day out and great for the charity but a very un-forgiving venue which, if run again should maybe be promoted as "experienced drivers only".
Tankslapper and his volunteers need medals for their efficiency, friendliness and organisation.
Cheers, Pewe.
PS the guy driving the Pug was seen leaving the venue under his own steam - now there's resourcefulness!

Great feedback everyone, thank you. We really enjoyed putting it on for you guys, and will definitely be putting it on again.
To clarify - the marshalls car was not being driven by it's normal driver, no injuries.
The MX-5 driver was very lucky to have borrowed a caged car! Also worth noting, those logs on the outside of that corner were completely rotten, I kicked my boot through one of them so a car would have barely noticed it. It was simply a case of soil build up at the base of the wheels it went across sideways, and the car went for the tumble.
It's a very unique track which the vast of majority of drivers nodded to driving it again, and feedback on the overall organisation has been brilliant, so a huge thanks to all you guys who drove safely and exactly as directed. So far, we are well on target for the high end of £10,000 for charity!

A lot crashes! Nasty ones as well.

Only due to driver error though, the other 95% of people there drove fast and within their limits, didn't crash and had a great time. There was a really good atmosphere and I thought the event was a great success, whilst raising a stack of cash for a worthwhile charity.AG
The weather more than likely had a hand with a couple of the crashes and made it a bit more difficult generally after lunch, but that's got nothing to do with the event, venue or preparation.
My commiserations to those who did crash though, not trying to take anything away from you, really glad everyone walked away without injury - cars are replaceable. I'm just getting a bit fed up of comments knocking a good event. Personally I'll be up for the next one.
Oh, and back on track with the thread - anybody got any more pics? I took a couple and will try and post them up asap, but was in the car most of the time...

Presumably that would be because you had roadside recovery though - a tank test track isn't a road. Even if you had trackside recovery, that it isn't an officially recognized motorsport venue probably means that it isn't a track either.I would have liked to have been there (prior commitments), and will certainly be interested should it run again.
Re the RAC - their cover specifically excludes any breakdown as a result of trackdays. I was caught out the same way a few months ago.
As I said on the main Bovington thread, we all had a great day and being underpowered really suited the track and conditions. Big thanks to the organisers and marshalls - see you at the next one.

And I'm the gent who rushed him off to hospital when he got back to the paddock.I think I can comfortably say that a fantastic day was had by all, even Weaver here and the chap that owned the MX5 he rolled.
I was there in the knackered old grey BMW E36 which received such comments as "That looks stock, but I bet it's dead quick." - If the lad who said that is here, you were wrong, it's just a stock 320i with lowering springs and the rear seats removed.
Anyway, thanks to the organisers and all of the people who turned out in some truly fantastic cars. Does anybody know how long it's likely to take for the photos taken by people from Northloop to get through?
