Hi,

Few of us are going to the 'Ring' in August for a few days and where planning to take in the Hockenheim circuit...(just to say we have been really).

Has anybody been and would you say it was worth the extra miles? I am told that there is a Mueseum there? Could anyone confirm.

Thanks

I believe that they have Touristenfahrt on Thursday evenings at Hockenheim. Bit of a free for all but great value.

Translation is `Tourist driving`...

I did it last year, great, but mad at the same time. You`ll get the idea from these vids, most thrilling track time i`ve ever done, don`t appear to be many rules... !

I've done TF there on a couple of occasions in the past, and it's certainly 'interesting'. Think of it as being like a session at a Castle Combe Action Day, but with five times as many cars on track at once, no safety briefing, and no overtaking rules. Saying that though, I felt less at risk from other drivers at Hockenheim than at a Combe Chavday.

The circuit itself was quite enjoyable to drive, but probably not truly special enough for me to make the trip down again just for that. If I was within the area though, I would happily hand over my twelve Euros for another couple of sessions, and maybe combine the evening TF with a day out in nearby Heidelberg.

Go early and make a day of it - the Technikmuseum in Speyer, just across the river is a day's worth by itself. There's also a motorsport museum near the circuit.

And yes, Hockenheim TF is an awesomely chaotic scrum and I loved it biggrin
